« on: December 08, 2011, 06:29:22 AM »
hey guys, ive tried searching but i can find out whats going on. i have a 1989 sidekick. the front wheel hub has 2 tapperd bearings in it. the races are pretty chewd up. i went to some parts houses yesterday and all they have is a 2 bearing in 1 flat stlye bearing. does anyone know if i just press the old races out ( and in witch direction) and just put the flat stlye in? thanks guys.

Yes, that is how it is done.  I just did mine, as you have it off and somewhat disassembled,  remove the inner seal, and then remove the large snap ring (that is hiding behind the seal).  I used a stub shaft to beat against the old bearing to move it out the back side.
ACKS http://www.acksfaq.com/sessionTest1b-.php has two sets of directions for doing it.
FWIW:  I have never torques my wheel bearings to 100 ft/lbs.
