37's & power steering
« on: June 02, 2007, 08:05:57 PM »
I've read that someone is running 37's with ifs.  Do they use the stock power steering pump and box from a sidekick?  If they are, then there must be something wrong with mine, because it has a hard time with 31's

Nobody said it was easy to turn. ;D I think you are referring to our group. We are running 35-39.5 inch tires on kick powersteering but we also have severly lighted rigs with the front stretched and motors moved rearward. They turn compareable to a normal rig on 32s

Thanks Mike. Is there any upgrades that can be done to the stock system?

I'm having the same problem with mine.  I have 32-11.50MTR's and there a bear to turn.  Others I've talked to don't have this problem with the same type of tires.

Some one once sugested to take apart the stearing pump and you can put a nickle or something like it behind the spring that reg. the pump pressure.

Mines OK with 33 x 9.5s. A little firmer but it always seemed a bit too light stock anyway. Over here there are two types of pump, with a fixed pulley and with a removable pulley. Maybe theres a difference?
