Hey Y'all Watch this!!
« on: October 19, 2003, 02:53:39 AM »
Have we been writeing, hopeing, watching the
wrong company for a real offroad Zuke???(new)
If ASMC sales # are so poor, does anyone
know what the Tracker sales were for GM.

What it there were an appeal to Chevrolet
to produce a Z series tracker in 2 door
conv/HT, for the entry level offroaders.

factory linited slip or air lockers, oversized
31" stock tires, winch bumper, V6, lower
R&P, lower TC gears........... you get the
idea, maybe a Diesel option too.

The point is there needs to be somthing
to replace the current model for offroading,
not some Soccermom wannabe knockoff,
There are plenty of Hondas to go to that
crowd, We want an offroad machine in a
limited edition like the J##p Rubicon, not
a wannabe knock off pavment hauler!!!

O, and the Joke to the punchline,

What did the Redleck say just before he died?

I'm with you, but dont think it will ever happen >:( There are alot more Heep freaks out there than Zukifreaks and look how long it took them to do the Rubicon. Plus the view of the general public (and most of the off-roading community) is "why buy a Suzuki just to build it up to what a Heep can do?" As wrong as this concept is the majority of people would not even consider a built new Suzuki  :'(
I could be considered just as at fault because 1- I wont buy a 'New' vehicle and eat the $'s loss, 2- I would much rather buy an older vehicle and build it into what I want than let a large company (like Suzuki or Jeep) decide what I need for trail use (not to mention all of the safety restrictions they have to go by) >:(

Later,
Zig
P.S. The last time I pulled the " hey Yall watch this", I broke both half shafts and a rear axle shaft, but am still alive to talk about it  :P

Unfortunately, this will never happen due to supply and demand.  There just isn't a large enough demand for a vehicle like that, so it won't be supplied.  In the big picture, those of us that offroad are a very small percentage of 4WD vehicle owners, so the mfg's won't make a vehicle tailored to wheeling.  I'm still surprised that the Rubicon made it to production considering that most Jeeps never see dirt.

It also is an issue with cost, fuel mileage, and safety.  With all the companies cutting corners to drive down cost, lightening vehicles to try and meet federal fuel mileage requirements, and everyone up in arms about the "Danger of SUV's" (Buncha BS in my book!!!) and how they do more damage to smaller cars in accidents, they are not likely to build a proper wheeler with heavier bumpers, lots of skid plates and winches.

Personally, I'd like to see either an early 70's Land Rover or one of the original Bronco's brought back.  They are both great wheeling vehicles that can be easily V8 powered.  Since that's not likely to happen anytime soon, I'll stick with my Zuk.  I still need to add more HP.  The stock 1.3 doesn't cut it.  Hmmmm...Hemi V-8....Hey Y'all, watch this.....

I agree with jdraper,

The actual number of people who do actually OFF ROAD is minuscule to those that don't.  You know who's buying the Rubicon here in Toronto?  YUPPIES!! That's who...you get all these rich yaks driving around in them or those Jeep Liberties with the fog lamps on the roof just for the looks...

I don't even want to get into the H2 craze happening here...  :-X

99% of the people who buy those vehicles have never off road in their lives and never will.

It's all a marketing ploy.

Actually that's great news..... Tell u y.
All those yuppies can buy the Z71 Tracker
and keep the numbers up, then the wheelers
will have an abundant supply of parts trucks
and used vehicles to buy, at least in theory
the 4x4 parts will be 99% unused so there
will be plenty of replacement axles, T-cases
and stuff to scavenge off of, like the front
axles I got from a tow behind Tracker with
49,000 pulled miles, on it  :)

So Bring on the Z71 Tracker !!!  45 MPG
Turbo Diesel please, O ya and 31" Stock
tires ;D
