Soft top question.
« on: December 15, 2007, 07:38:03 AM »
Has anyone run one of these and if so do they requirre all of the hardware that comes with the soft tops?  I have a hard top but I like to take it off in the summer and it just kills my gas mileage.  The hard top trackers came with very little of the hardware for the soft tops so I wanted to know before I spent the money.

I've only run the pre 95 tonneau cover but it does not fit well at all without the softop bows.  The bows are required to hold it up and taunt.  I wouldn't expect the newer model one you have pictured to fit well without them either.

this is the Kayline top I use during the winter. It seems to keep pretty good mileage, it's warmer and quieter than a full soft top and requires no hardware. the top comes with holes and vinyl seatbelt mount covers. I removed the rear seats and seat belts. So I took the spare material from the covers to a leather smith and had it stitched closed.

I also use a bikini top all summer and with the windows rolled up it stays dry even in the rain. Your best bet is probably a 95+ full with zip out side windows.
