If you do a SPOA ... what size tires can you run? I am asking for my cousin who just bought one... I got a Jeep TJ and so I don't anything about the sammys.,,, Thanks for all your help

OK then next question...what does he need to do to roll on 33's???

Alot to do it right, i have 2" lift springs from trail tough and 3/4" extended bone shackles with spoa to clear 33's, than u need to do some sort of gearing which can be expensive, my sugestion if u want to keep it on the chearper side is, spoa, after market shackels no longer than 1" extended and 31's, there will be a lot u can do if u go with larger tires like 33's and no gears u will start tearing up clutches and other parts! Some people think they can put 33's and not do gearing or a better suspension, but u will find out its harder to wheel unless u do lots of mods to have a wheelin machine, my rig is taking several month and $1000's of dollars to make it right and to run a larger tire, another sug. yj conversion and u can run 33's!

not true about stoppping at 31's with a SPOA, my boss has an 87 sammy with a hoopy SPOA job done to it, hes running 33 10.5's no rubbing at all.  he has a back spaced rim thou, but not much.   And its locked front and rear with 6.1 crawler gears in it.  The guy dosnt belive in building the axles up hahah so he runs them stock.

In that case its all about the gears, i was talking about what can happen to your clutch and drive train if u run 33's with no gears and stock motor, i learned the hard way a time ago!

Depends what you do when you do the SPOA. You can fit 33's nicely, or 31's I wouldnt go higher than that on stock sammy axles tho, they tend not to hold up with the bigger tires on them, I run 31's and havent seen a problem with it, my friend runs 33's breaks alot of axle shafts until he bought the beefier ones.

IF you want to run  33's upgrade the axle shafts, your going to need to get t-case gears or you will kill your clutch.  and probally a clutch upgrade wouldnt hurt there either.  You might want to look into 5inch perches instead of 4 inch, some aftermarket springs that give you a couple inches more lift, 2inch longer than stock shackles.  there are alot of different options.

i did my cheap a$$ soa and im going to run 32"s max i have 30's now.. and i like the turnout.. rear springs up front, my version of the missing link , and front main leaf made buggy leafs in the rear

nice lookin tin top, are those just stock springs?
for the rears up front did you re-build the spring pack or did you just move your rears up?
thats a mod that a lot of the toyota guys do, it supposed to flex the best.

they are just take offs from a friends rig no rebuild and there is a little something else helping with the flex in that....heres a pic
