Thoughts on more swaping
« on: February 09, 2005, 04:26:40 AM »
I have an XL-7 and have no options as far as gears go. So what I was thinking about was swapping in a GV trans. in place of the xl-7 one. This would regear me to run 32-33 tires and allow to get t-case gears as well.   This should be just a bult in thing but what ECU will it care or not?  An thoughts any one ???

Sorry it an auto.  the xl-7 comes with 5.12's in the R&P the gears for the trans are
1st 2.826
2nd 1.493
3rd 1.000
4th 0.689
and  Reverse 2.703

vs the GV
with a 4.875 R&P and the trans is
1st 2.452
2nd 1.452
3rd 1.000
4th 0.689
and  Reverse 2.212

Yeah, I'd go for the t-case swap, that gv tranny by those ratios isn't gonna help. For 32-33's you may need to double in a sammy case for more reduction. But, with an auto it may be tolerable on the street.
88.5 Sammy,YJ's,33's,Yota axles,4.9-1 'case,dents and rust...
