« on: March 20, 2006, 05:15:19 PM »
I dropped it off today and they told me it would probably be 2 weeks before I get it back.  :o  :(

Getting a new fender and liner,
Dent pulled out of the quarterpanel and new fuel door
Whole passengerside repainted,
Stripes and emblems taken off bothsides
Original tails back on  :(

should have done it yourself, good learning experience.   You can always get some good quality gelcoat (boat paint) and brush it on the street and do a professional quality job

I think this was covered by insurance, if I remember reading correctly... It would have to go to a shop in that case.

Slid into a gaurdrail just before Thanksgiving.

It is covered by the insurance.

I wanted to wait and get it all repainted Dark Grey but I thought about it and also talked with the guy that is fixing it and he agreed that it wasn't a good idea.

I was hoping to be able to fix it myself/friends, but the Ins. Co. wrote the check to Me, My Wife and the Shop! My wife and I were both pretty mad.

Once I get it back I'm changing the sparkplugs and it's gonna need an oil change too.

I wish I could take it off the road at 100K(Its at 99,250) and fix it up but money tight right now so I doubt thats gonna happen.

Well I got it back today but didn't get home intime for enough light.  :(
Pics Tomarrow as long as I can get home in time.  ;D

WOW!!!  :o They did a GREAT job. Can't even tell where it got hit.

They fixed everything they said plus some!  :o

Along with the stuff they were supposed to do...
They fixed the crack in the grill and repainted it and the edges of the hood to cover some chips, they also painted the faded spot on the bar between the tops(where the soft-top rubbed in the wind) and also they painted the bumpers too.

They actually went over the price of my ins. check by a little over $100 and didn't charge me!!! Actually told me it was a Christmas gift from them. LOL

Only thing I have to complain about is that they didn't clean the interior out... I mean a layer of sanding dust, paint dust, and regular dust was EVERYWHERE.

Mine has a crease in the same place right over hthe rt rear fender, but the fuel door isnt damaged. I found that the fuel door on mine is plastic, and on other ones, the fuel door is metal. It is probably for the better, as it cannot dent, although it can crack and melt.
Runnin' it stock with 225/75R15s and an unmodified 8valve TBI motor (I need a doug thoroley header and a cam) (more power) (1.6 liters of madness) (vroom + sewing machine sounds)

If your insurance company made out the check that way its probably because you have a loan on  your tracker.

When you borrowed money on a car its always a bad idea to work on it yourself. I know we all tweak and lift and stuff, but your lender could get really crappy with you if they find out.

For instance, if your work isnt the greatest and your car winds up worth less than the loan value, you have actually defrauded your lender by embezzling insurance money which is legally theirs.

I borrowed 3600 against my sammy, and made sure to insure it as a collectilble auto. Whenever i make a change to it (suspension, tires, interior etc) i call my insurance company and adjust the insured value. My lender is an out of state loan broker, and isnt real worried about my ability to pay. I have called them every time i make a significant change, and their response is that if the insurance company is comfortable with the insured value and it is more than the loan amount, then they are ok with the changes.

The only difficulty i have had is convincing my agent and her underwriters that my upgraded suspension did not constitute a dangerous modification.
