Ok my first time out... about every 15 minutes I learned how ill prepared I was. Good thing the group I was with let me hang with them. The last thing that struck me as lack of planning ahead... where do you guys take your rigs to wash after a day of weeleing? My apt has a wash station. But spray all I want, that heap of mud just isn't going to disappear.  I pondered the thought of a low pressure high volumn pump to be used out in the woods.... drive up to river, fire up pump, wash up the rigs. am I coo coo? where do you guys wash up?

Not All Car Wash places like it when 4X4's show up
at their U-Do-It pressure car wash bays. I have even been chased out.
But I did find one not too far away that makes me use the OUTSIDE
wash area the cattle haulers wash out their trailers. It charges a little more
(Same quarters just shorter run time).

I just find a local wash it yourself spray wash if im not close to home. If I'm close to home I use the pressure washer with a wide angle nozel and stand back about 4' when using it... (dont want to peel off my body wrap)

I've been catching water in a large tote off my gutters for years and simply run a preasure washer out of that. Wells have been goin dry here in the summer. A carwash is ok if the owner doesn't mind, but thats not something I would do without washing it out afterwards. No I'm not a wiedo I just have respect for other peoples things.

I sort of figured the wash in or near a stream was a bad thing.. but I still pondered it. I'll have to begin my quest for an outside wash place.

Definately wash the mud out when your done. I have had owners tell me I could not was at their spot but let ma after I assured them I always cleaned up after myself. Nothing more annoying thatn pulling your car into a wash and some DA has left mud chunks or cow crap all over the stall...

had it once when i washed my truck after wheelin and went over to the office to see if i could use there main wash out hose, just to clean the stall up, i felt bad leaving it dirty. the guy laughed about it and said not to worry about it, he needed something to do as he was getting bored just sitting there. i still stayed and paid more money to help him clean up. he said i was the only customer he has ever had do that.

You can get an inexpensive electric pressure washer for around 100-150 bucks to knock of the worst of your mud before you go to a car wash. Me, I just go to the firehouse and use the 1 3/4" hose hooked to the standpipe in the station with about 80 pounds of static pressure. Dirt doesn't stand a chance around me! lol

Shoot I did my old chevy in my home driveway once.  It worked okay, but I'm not sure the neighbors were happy when the gutters everywhere had this brown tint for over a week.  
I've just learned to stay out of the mud.  Even after I took that chevy to a DIY car wash and clogged their drain with mud, I did the rest in my driveway for six hours and even then, it wasn't done.  Every time I changed the oil on that up until the point I sold it, I always had caked-on sh*t falling in my face.  I don't want that mess under my sweet little Tracker
Not that the mud isn't tempting...  I can't get this thing stuck, but I've sure tried.

I'm with you DJ mud is dum spelled backward. If it's not avoidable, like on some of the trails at Zuwharrie or in the past at Paragon, or Harlan once it's dried it's like cement. I'll go to the local joint and spray as much off as I can, drop another buck to wash the mud down the drain then take it home, put it up on jackstands as high as I can, and get underneath with my powerwasher and knock off the rest. I got another wand and bent it 90 degrees just for this purpose. I've even been known to get under there with a bucket and scrubrush to get everything clean. Then be sure to LUBE EVERTHING!!!! And finally, another half hour to clean the driveway. Mud Sucks!

The place I mentioned,
Has a special center "Gutter" to catch all the mud, road apples, etc.
and have a dumpster right by the wash stall, with a shovel hanging on it. You farm boys know the routine!

oh the memories....I cut my teeth boggin on this pacific northwest gumbo, full size Chev's big blocks screaming, 44 inch tires burred to the frame rails and mud in every conceivable body location.I spent alot of time on the end of a pressure washer!

park it over a lawn sprinkler and move the sprinkler every couple minutes...works nice.
(I'm lazy)

stay out of the mud!   

I just pull it around to the back yard, and wash it while it is sitting on the grass.  The mud and sand magically disappear into the lawn...
