2" body lift and 2" susp lift -Pictures?
« on: July 01, 2008, 08:21:23 PM »
Okay guys, so i did a search and I know this topic has been covered.  Also, I looked through the reader's rides looking for pictures but it seems there are alot of dead links to the picture hosting sites... anyway, I am building up a 4 door 95 Sidekick JLX and trying to decide on a body lift.  I am leaning towards a 2" from Rocky Road as opposed to the 3" from calmini.  The main reason is just ease of not having to do welding a stuff.  Anyway do any of you out there have a picture or a good link to a site where I can see a 4 door with a similar setup?  I have already installed Jeff's spacers (2") on the coils and wanting to run 31" tires on CJ5 wheels.  I am also wondering about camber problems and the solution.  Any advise either way is greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

(Looks like I'm following you, but I'm not!)
My Kick is a 2 door with 2" spacers and trimmed rear fenders, but no body lift.(yet) I went to Advance and got a "camber adjustment kit" which consisted of 2 cam bolts, one per side. They take the place of one of the bolts holding your strut to the spindle, in my case the bottom one. Pretty simple really, the instructions were helpful. Cost about $20.00. I am running 31x10.5x15's on 10" aluminum wheels, not sure of the offset. I'll post a pic just for the heck of it.

Well im not 2 inch suspension and 2 body, but I am 3'' to 3 1/2'' suspension, and 1 inch body lift

running 31x10.5's.  I really didnt have much for camber issues, what little I had after my lift I adjusted with new camber bolts.  it was still alittle off but after about 150-200 miles the springs broke in alittle and camber was fine.  I also have strut mounts flipped, with 1 inch strut mount spacers.

2" Suspension with coil spacers
2" Sky Manufacturing body lift - I did modify this a bit, the original blocks are 2" diameter. I read that some people had them push through the body shortly after doing the body lift. I figured this to be from the smaller surface area putting more stress on the body mount, so for the 4 center mounts I made 3.5" diameter blocks(same size as the stock rubber cusion)
If I were to do it again(and actually will be soon to fit 33's), I'd just make a 3" box tube body lift.

thank you!  that is what I was looking for.  Do you think I will have any problems with rocky road's lift pushing through the floor?  Now you got me scared!

Well, RRO's body lift is the same. I think it all depends on where you live, I'm right on the ocean in the north east where the fog gets thick at night, and in the winter there is salt spread on the roads. Rust free body's are not common. I'd just check the mounts over before you turn away from doing it. The ones that are really bad are the two in front of the rear tires.  It's just metal, it can be fixed ;)

Thanks. They are Federal Couragia M/T's. Best tire I've ever ran off-road. I'm hoping they make them in a 33... The tires do not rub at all, that's why i put on the 2" BL, I was getting some harsh rubbage at full stuff... The outside of the fenders weren't cut all all, but as of now they have been trimmed back, I'm hoping to go with a 33, so I'm trying to make more room.
