I got the driver's side suspension on the '93 Tracker back in place!

 

It's hard to see, but I used long tie wraps instead of the funky metal straps for the CV boots. You can see one on the outside boot just off the end of the lower caliper slide.

Also, actual photographic evidence that you can transplant an ASIN manual locking hub off a Samurai onto a Sidekick (at least this '93 model...)

Tomorrow ther harder, passenger side! ;)

or transplant a 93 kick to a samurai hub.  ;D
1987,1988,1988,1990 samurai's,  1953 m38a1,  1996 x-90,blue.1996 x-90 red.1994 2 door tracker.   only Dead Fish go with the flow.                No Hairy Nosed Wombats were ran over on the trail today.       My ZUK is Xenophobic.

I'm transplanting Toyota hubs onto my Kick (also made by Aisin).  And Toy CV axles, too!

The people I know who have reported problems have been able to fit them but they have reported 'clicking' noises or rubbing when in use.

Unlock your hubs and jack up one front wheel and turn it by hand and watch the cv shaft. I'll bet it turns... The Sammy hubs aren't deep enough to clear the c-clips on the ends of the tracker's cv shafts that hold them in the spindle... If you assemble the cv into the spindle without the clips, the hubs will work, but the cv can slide in and out and even come disengaged from the diff at extreme articualtion.

I checked them for locking and freewheeling. They worked nicely even with the C-clips installed.  I wonder if the thickness of the gasket (which I have installed) might be enough to clear the C-clip.

Nonetheless, I'll report back on any noises while operating in the Daily Driver mode...

That's the difference right there! You installed a gasket instead of relying on the O-ring seal. Should work fine if the gasket doesn't flaten out too much.

Is the gasket an SJ item? The reason I ask these questions is because I broke one of my FWHs, SJ ones are easier to source.

Since we're on the subject of hubs, what kind of grease do you guys use when cleaning/maintaining your hubs?  I read an article on Toyota hubs and it mentioned using long strand grease to lube the hubs.  Sorry for being ignorant, but what the heck is long strand grease?  Can you use bearing grease on the  hubs?  Thanks for your help.

Never heard of long strand grease.
I know synthetic oils have long molecule (sp)
chains, could that be it ???  Synthetic grease

Last time I did my hubs, I used Mobil1, and
before that I used Slick50 grease with Teflon©
