Title: 215/85/16 tires?
Post by: jeffry on December 30, 2005, 06:58:10 PM
215/85/16 tires? Anybody fit these on 4door Vitara with a 2-inch body lift and 1.5-inch OME lift?

Thanks,

Jeff

Never seen it done but I'd bet you could do it with that much lift.  That's about a 31x8.5R16 and with that narrow of a tire I bet there wouldn't be any contact.

I'm pretty sure I'd have room too, just curious if anybody had run that size before. I have 235/70/16s now and the only rubbing I get is because of the width (full lock turns and some rubbing at full stuff in the back). Wheel spacers would solve all those issues, but those cost a couple of hundred for four and a set of scrap-yard 16-inch rims would be the same price - then I could get a nice set of MTs for the trail.

The 215's would be at least an inch taller than the 235's you have now.

Unless you're looking for other Suzuki or Chevy Tracker rims in the junkyard you won't find any  that will fit a GV.  Because of the front disk brake configuration just about no common rims will fit.  I've recently been down that road.  The factory rims have a sort of 1" spacer built in so they clear the calipers and most aftermarket or factory rims with the 5x5.5" bolt pattern won't clear the caliper.
