Post by: dave on January 03, 2006, 04:03:30 PM
A 4.27 R&P (in a dana axle) and a 4.30 (Sidekick auto)...would it work or will the diffrence brake down my gearing?

some people might say yes, but in my opinion it aint gonna make that big of a difference, unless you are gonna drive it in 4 wd on pavement, which will tear anything up sooner or later

There were differences greater than that in some factory setups.

Well, here's a way to look at it:

Assuming a 31" tire, the 4.27 will go 0.16 inches farther for every revolution of the driveshaft, than the 4.30.  To travel a mile, the 4.30 will take 19.52 more revolutions of the driveshaft, than the 4.27.

I don't think I'd want to do that.

So you have to run different size tyres to compensate for it, that should be easy  ;D ;D ;D

A center diff would solve that problem completely.
