Sorry about cross-posting to anither site, Eric.  iZook doesn't get much traffic.

So, you wan't me to write this dude a letter?  Not to be a pessimist, but I really don't think "online forum testimony" will hold much weight in front of a judge.  If he's short on dough why doesn't he just plea the ticket down and/or ask for some time to pay.  Or try a new post...For Sale, one of my three Sammi's.  He could probably turn one into some fast cash in the Garage Sale here, and still have two left to play with. Not trying to be an a$$, merely suggesting a different solution to Enrique's problem.  But if it'll help, I'm going to send him an email confirming the lack of power of my Samurai

Oh, guess I gotta snail mail it.  No e-mail in his iZook profile.  I'll send it from work.  I'll include my VIN # and what not to make the letter appear as official as possible.  Let us know how he makes out.

Umm, I think he was maybe looking for a "sanity check".

Like "who thinks it's possible to go that fast in a Sammi" sort of discussion...  I dunno.

I don't think a Sammi can FALL that fast, if you push it off a cliff!  What do you have under the hood?

1.6, Midwest performance weber 38 Dgas, calmini header, 2inch straight pipe with a super trap ;D.
It realy doesnt like doing 90 but will. The last time i cruised at that kind of speed this happened :-X. I'll have it back together in about a week.

I've gone 78 in a sami.  It's scary  :).  What does this guy expect.  Even if other people are speeding around you, speeding is speeding.

I once asked a cop about that when I got pulled over and his reply was "Well, somebody has to get the ticket."  Lucky me.

i have a an 87 sami on 32's, stock engine, and stock gears. hell i think it has the original coil i'll check later. i was cruising in it at 85 mph for 545 miles and have had it up to 105 mhp. oh never that was behind my 2003    F-350 with a banks 6 gun bundle. there is a guy down the road that bought one of my samis that the motor was gone he dropped a LT-1 engine with something like 500 hp in it. it runs 8.5 in the quater mile but it is lowered and stretched. i'l try to get some pics.

I've had my stock '88 up to over 75MPH  two or three different times. Once kept it at that speed for several miles. Normal highway cruising speed is 65. I can give him sympathy, but just cannot attest to the idea that a Samurai can't go fast enough to speed.

When I first got my 87' tin top it had 113k on the OD and was bone stock and I got it up to 85mph on the flats,It was scary to say the least,Now it has 31/10.50's with intake, exhaust, ignition system with stock gearing and I can top out |removethispart|@ 70mph on the freeway. :)

I think this unfortunate gentleman is SOL if he thinks a judge will even consider his argument. :(

Back before Montanna went back to speed limits. On the way back to idaho. I was alble to speed down some of those hills they got. The nice straight hills. I just about reached the 0 again. Handled really well. You got to remeber this is a stock 92 suki kick 4 dr. Pissed a few people off in little sports cars. Even on the straight away. All yes, back when I had money to keep my truck in tip top shape.

later,

Josh

I would have told the  cop I'd give him $500 if HE could get it up to 78 Mph  ;D ;D ;D

Seriously though would you not argue the point at the time the officer was writing the ticket rather than later ?

Well, yeah, my 95 4-door Sidekick with stock gearing, and the 1.6/16 can hit 95 MPH any time I want, and I have been up to 100 real miles per hour with it.  But that's not a Sammi.

Ive done 65 mph in the sand. My black one went up to 90 mph when it was all stock before. Took me forever to get there but it did it.

Key word here, people, is momentum and lots of it.  Anyways, what about that dude in the broken down Sammi that got towed by the Vette, how fast did he go?

I had a stock height tintop with a 1.6-16V in it that I took up to 120mph - downhill (Had a Honda clocking me).  It was scary as heck and I did almost wreck when I rounded a bend in the highway.  I strongly recommend keeping Zuks under 100mph...

Judges won't buy the "It doesn't go that fast" defense.
