Have you pulled the dash to check the connections in the back? The temp gauge could also be broke up at the sensor on the engine. It attaches with a spade clip and over time can get damaged.

Your speedo cable probably just snapped.  $43 dollars is what it should cost from a dealership.  Its also a pretty easy fix to do.

I have some manual pages with instructions for replacing it, if you want me to send them to you sometime.

Not sure about the temp guage, never had a problem with mine before.  Its probably just a poor connection in the engine bay.

My temp gage died and I thought the speedo went also.  I ended up getting a new cluster, with 45,000 more miles on it.  Then I found out the cable was going bad.  I did not even check the price of one from the dealer, and got one from advanced auto for $26.  I was about a foot longer.  When I put the cluster back into the dash, I did not realize that the cable got kinked.  It lasted about 5 miles.  I tried to find a inner cable part but nound one the right length.  I did find one cheaper at NAPA, but it was still too long.  I re routed things and finally got it to work, but It was a PITA.  Then I found out that the Suzuki dealer sold it for only $43.  In hindsight, the original cable would have been well worth the little extra it cost.  I had heard would be $75 to $100, so that is why I didn't even try it first.  I wish I had kepted the old cluster, but they took it.  I could have gotten the temp gage changed out of the old cluster and had the right mileage still.

I hope that helps.
