Title: How do you turn a 1.6L over by hand with the fan, shroud, etc in the way?
Post by: AJMBLAZER on January 15, 2006, 07:57:01 PM
Can you?  Gotta do the second half of the valves, now how in the hell are you supposed to turn the motor over with the fan, shroud,  and stuff in the way?  Can't quite figure out how to get a ratchet in there.  ???

Stick a 17mm socket on the crank bolt from the
bottom of the trucklet, 1/2" is longer and easier

Also helps to take 'bout half an inch off the fanshroud (facing the fan) next time you have the radiator off. This doesn't deter from cooling and allows quite a bit more working room. Just my $.02

I just put it in a high gear and bump it with my legs (rock it).  If you have the spark plugs out its even easier.
