Title: Need new Sidekick exhaust......
Post by: mannytranny on January 15, 2006, 09:23:28 PM
I took the beast in to get it smogged (fun in CA) and it didnt pass.........apparently there are holes in the muffler.

Anyway, the exhaust is pretty much rusted out, and I figured I may as well just get a new complete system.  I found this:  http://www.roadlessgear.com/page/RGL/PROD/E/SES210

325 bucks.....

Anyone tried one from this place?

Thanks!!!  I may spring and get the thorley headers while Im at it...... ;D

Don't buy a bolt on kit, go to a local shop and it will be cheaper/better.

AH CRAP.

I called the place that sells the exhaust, and it is only for a sammy.

I have been to my local muffler shop, and they suck.  I dont even want them to touch the car.  Overpriced too.......

Anyone else know where I might be able to find a kit or something?

Tx!

You can get a complete Calmini header/exhaust combo for around $300 http://puresuzuki.com/exhaust_combo1.htm

OH!  looks good.......unfortunately the zuki needs to pass emissions, so I ordered the cat back system.

I also bet that getting the exhaust mainfold off might be a bit though......bolts might be on kinda tight.......

Tx!

I was running the whole Calmini but now I have the Calmini header feeding a 2.5" exhaust...the little Sunrunner sets off car alarms now ;D The Calmini exhaust sounds nice and bolts up pretty easily....you'll enjoy it :)

Yep, a friend of mine built the exhaust...we bought mandrel bends and welded it all together

Any shop could do it, I'm in little Nova Scotia and there's like 15+ shops within a 20 miniute drive that could pipe mine with a muffler for <$200

Well.....the cat back exh from Calmini came today......and I just (tried) to install it........

First off, I unbolted the old exhaust and found that the calmini piece and the stock piece are NOT the same where the exhaust bolts onto the back of the cat.  Should have stopped right there.....

It was all dowhill from there, nothing fit quite right.  The hanger's were off, and the exhaust is touching the frame in one spot.

Ill call tomorrow.

BTW, what is the chance that this 89 2 door 5 speed is an 16 valve?

Help!

I don't think there's a chance that it's a 16 valve, but it could be a 1.3 liter.  Check the sticker on the under side of the hood where the valve settings etc. are located (if it's still there).  Hope Calmini comes through for you.

No, Im positive its a 1.6L....

I guess I just might take off the piece between the muffler and cat and have it bent at a shop tomorrow.....I dont want to wait until calmini opens on monday.....

I was just hoping that it would be a good exact fit.

Tx for the reply

There is the off chance that the old exhaust had been replaced and is not all in the right position. My Calmini exhaust hooked up right where it was supposed to just had to make up the piece between the cat and the collector...and that was documented by Calmini.
