Title: Installing calimni 5.14 gears
Post by: Dwdarnell23 on January 20, 2006, 08:00:22 AM
I just ordered some gears for my transfer case in the Samurai. I was wondering if anyone has any helpful info on doing this. Thanks.  8)

Hi Dwdarnell23,

Real easy to install. Like Wild said - keep an eye on the little parts.
The instructions that come with the kit are very good.
DO NOT forget to remove the speedo drive or there will be tears :'(.
I strongly suggest you use a press to get bearings off and on - replacing the bearings is a must to really. If you do the job right first time then the gears will last for years - if not then your investment may be short lived >:(

I have installed over half a dozen kits now and they work very well. When Calmini brought them onto the market I got one straight away - it has been put through its paces ever since and is as good today as when I put it in ;D

Good luck and enjoy 8)

Hey

i've done it 5 times , just follow there directions. they are written very well and easy to follow.
after you do it you will wonder why you were worried about it.

hey guys check out gear guide section. There is a complete breakdown of the 5.8 gearset installation  into a sami case with pictures. The differences should be subtle.

so that's actually a question I would like to ask. Does anyone look at the gear guide section when they are looking for install information?  How can we make that section better for the readership. Any ideas don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Thanks
