Does anyone have any sort of locker (except welded or spool) in an Xl-7 withoug having to resort to chaging over the rear axle? I was looking to get a autolocker to fit?

I'm pretty sure there isn't one available yet.
-
I was hoping that an powerlocker or detroit locker or one of the many copies would be available. Oh well...
-
ARB was looking into making one but stoped >:(

Anyone asked the Aussie Locker people?
-
I have a guy here in OZ who can do it but the problem is he needs a diff centre to work it all out from. It would be an airlocker type setup.
-
Can anybody provide the following information with any certainty:
Ring gear I.D.
Ring gear bolts P.C.D.
Number of ring gear bolts
Axle spline count
Axle spline O.D.
Axle spline root angle
-
From what I've read the diff from a Sidekick rear will fit right in and you can then have a locker.
-
only on the smaller GV axles not the XL-7 :-[

...and from what I've heard, somewhere in '03 to '05 GV's use the same rear axle as the XL7's.
-
As far as I can tell, the GVs never used an Xl7 rear axle. The part numbers I have are:
GV:
Axle housing:
w/o ABS 99-03 4650065D20
w/ABS 99-03 4650065D70
all 04 4650065D20
Carrier housing:
manual trans 99-03: 2745065D10
auto trans 99-00 2745065D00
01-03 2745065D10
all 04: 2745065D10
XL7:
Axle housing:
w/o ABS: 01-04 4651052D01
w/ABS: 01-04 4651052D51
Carrier assy 01-04 2745068D00
Can anyone confirm the part numbers?
If they are correct, and different part numbers mean different parts (sounds logical doesn't it? ;D) the GV and the Xl-7 never shared these parts. Besides, the axles on manual non-ABS vehicles from 99-03 are the same as those used on 04 vehicles. Which would mean that, for example, the lockright locker on rocky-road for through 2001 Vitaras may actually be ok for vehicles up to 04.
Are the part numbers on the axle somewhere?
Who can find if the part numbers are correct?
-
On my GV the rear axle says 5A083 next to where the panhard bar mount is welded. Mine is a 2 dr, 2ltr diesel, with manual trans. I couldn't find any more numbers anywhere. Can anyone check theirs?
-
The xl7 rear end looks a lot bigger than the GV ,and i think the axles have more splines.
-
Personally I'd like to have a Limited Slip in the rear.
-
Eh, limited slips are only a little better than an open diff. Give me a locker any day.
-
So whats the verdict then?
Is there no locker that fits the XL-7? What about doing a carrier change using the Trackick carrier w/XL7 gears & axles?
-
What I'm thinking is to use a GV housing with xl-7 shafts and a sidkick 3rd with side-greas from the xl-7. Don't have the parts yet but we will see.

That would be sweet if I could swap in the XL7 sidegears and shafts into my Tracker. :o Let us know if it works
-
only if its a 99 and up
-
Well of course, see my Sig
