Title: Rearend sizes???
Post by: 95XL7 on January 22, 2006, 07:42:22 AM
;D No i'am not talking about your ol'ladies....

As you may know i recently purchased a rear 3rd member from a 91-93 kick with 5:38
gears which is a 10 bolt ring gear with unknown miles but the gears look great.

I also purchased a Auburn posi unit for the 10 bolt pattern gears.

For those of you who have done gear changes, my question is: Is the only
difference between the 89-93 rears and 94-98 the ring gear bolts?

Are the carrier bearings the same size for all years? Pinion size?

I want to use the earlier 10 bolt carrier with all the parts from my 95 rear which only has
16000 miles on it.

As far as I know the bearings are the same,
but your 5.38 ???  Never heard of that ratio
in a SideKick, heard of 4.30, 4.62, 5.13, 5.62
and the Calmini 5.83s but not a 5.38 for a Track/Kick

I know 5.38s are available for Sammies tho

???

Yes i believe the 3rd was from a 1991.
So what your telling me is a 5:38 REAR gear set for a Sami
fits the kick front??

Is there any mods needed to do this?

That would be nice since i still
haven't bought a front 3rd with 5:38's.

I don't know of any mod needed for a
front SideKick carrier with a Sammy gear,
only for a Sammy Carrier (4 pins) into a
SideKick 3rd

You will need to have the gears setup so
you don't trash them, same goes for the rear
5.38 if you didn't get the whole chunk that is
allready setup with gears in it

::) Well i finally received the differential, well sorta,
i think i know why it took so long, they didn't have the Auburn
like i ordered and shipped me a powerbrute unit instead,
which is the same unit that Calmini sells.

I will keep it and use it,but i think i will call them
and let them know they didn't fool me.

They should have told me they were substituting a different brand!!
