i didnt realize that trackkicks were sold as chevrolet vitaras in latin america
So were Samurais, Jimnys, and the 2nd gen vitaras/grand vitaras all sold as chevys
i thought it was a cool pic

In a certain part of the world they still make the early body style trackick under a different name.
-
Hmm I didnt know that but i did know that they still make the Samurai in spain under the Santana name and the Samurai pickup also sold as the Maruti Gypsy King in india

I believe that production in Spain has now ceased. AFAIK the arrangement with Suzuki has ended and hasn't been renewed, it seems that Suzuki are looking to open cheaper plants in the former communist countries.

I wonder if the suzukis that will be built in the former communist countries would come stock with an AK-47 in the passenger seat and a gun rack ;D LOL
-
No No No, It will have Machine Guns mounted on the hood
;D

Occassionally I get to go to some of the big defence exhibitions. In amongst all the Hi Tech missiles , laser guided weapons and all the other stuff, usually tucked away in a corner, is the URAL stand. These are motorcycles and motorcycle/sidecar combos that last had a design overhaul sometime in 1930. Complete with camo paint and machine gun mounts. Fortunately I think the new Zuks will be a bit more modern (IIRC Eric recently posted some details). After all Porsches and Mercedes are now built in places like Hungary.

Have you ever seen the Army commercial where they show the taliban in the desert, and then it says across the screen "your target", then it shows the Taliban driving a fully loaded 1983 toyota pickup with a sunroof down a dirt road. Im like "not the toyota! thats an awsome pickup"although it isnt a suzuki. But it had a machine gun mounted in the bed kind of like a hummer. ;D

ok, There has got to be a way to buy used Gypsy Kings in India and have them shipped 3 or 4 to a shipping container to the US.........
I'd pay 10k for one.....

Wouldn't it be easier to mount it in a turret? Especially on a soft top, easy access. ;D

Hi, I am totally new here and about the starting issue, I believe in Latin America Sidekicks are just Sidekicks, they are called Vitaras in Europe.
The one you saw is probably imported in used condition from there to here!
As far as a turret in a Zuki... I imagine in Colombia and some of the recent wars we've had around here, someone had the idea but cannot confirm; what I've seen are pictures from Lebanon, Colombia, Nicaragua and wherever of toyota pick ups armed with anything on their beds, from a nice group of friends displaying RPG's to more or less well installed MG's, like M60s, Degtgyarev and anything in between.
And now you mentioned, I figure that's why they invented the AK-74 with collapsible stock! To fit in a Suzuki!
(but please don't ever make me talk about guns, It is against he rule of my order)
saludos from Costa Rica

He he. In India, we think of getting parts from US & other places. There is a HUGE demand for Gyspy (SJ413) in India -- especially the used ones.
