Can't get my axles to give up the ghost and come loose...
I have banged, wiggled, slammed with a baseball bat (with tire on...LOL)
Hit with a large dead blow hammer in various spots...
I don't have a large slide hammer....
Anyone have any tips? I SERIOUSLY need to get this spool in by the weekend!

I borrowed a slide hammer and then I added a Chevy 350 harmonic balancer to the handle. I used the weight and the balancer together and it took me about 30 minutes to get the axles out. Not Fun At All!!!!!!!!

I had my axle lying on the floor. So I've tied it to a tree and winched the axle out it ;D

One thing that works is using a length (yard or meter) of chain about. Bolt the chain on to your lug nuts studs or axle flange bolts (bolt to two opposing studs). Then 'snap' the chain like a rope. This will work. watch your shins, eyes, body parts. The flailing chain can be unpredictable.

Go rent or borrow a slide hammer.
I built a slide hammer out of a twisted
axle and a heavy section of square tube,
weld a piece across the spline section
and waalla home made slide hammer,
works like a charm

Eric, you are the second person to tell me that technique tonight... I can see me screwing up all sorts of stuff like that, INCLUDING my shins... lol.... BUT, if all else fails, I will definitely give it a try.. IF the slide hammer doesn't work....
Harbor Freight has an acceptable slide hammer for $39.00.... I'll get one.. :D I mean, how badly can a slide hammer be made... I am sure it will hold up for a few uses...
Thanks guys...

Well, it does work. :) Sometimes, on the trail you have to make do with what you've got. Ya know?
Good luck, Eric
