and this is what I found. This cannot be a sammi. It comes with a 2.8L turbo diesel 4cyl, 3.3:1 4low. it's awsome, I want one

No it's not a sammy, it's a copy of an old Land Rover (110?). And I can assure you you don't want a santana, quality sucks big time ;)

Santana Motors also markets a Vitara,Tracker,Sidekick copy called a 300 (SWB) or 350 (LWB). I wonder if the quality on them is what it should be for a Suzuki. Weird front ends though.

Quality from Santana has never been good. Lots of Suzukis around here were produced by Santana, including Samurais, Vitaras (Tracker, Sidekick etc) and Jimny's. The Samurais were good, and so were the Vitaras at the beginning. Somewhere around the late nineties, quality went doooown. They have all sorts of problems, loose bolts, premature wear and tear all around several drivetrain failures or even missing parts. Plus it takes forever to get a spare part. It seems the Jimnys were more or less OK, though always less than the Japanese ones. These Annibals aren't as common, but I don't think quality and reliability is far away from the original Land Rovers...

LRs build quality is pretty terrible too so I can believe that. ;). My Vit is Santana built, I've had it from new. Its not all that bad, on the way home from the dealership only 3 bits fell off ::) Just bits of interior trim (AFAIK), when I replaced them I noticed that none of the metal work under the dash is painted - just bare metal. After a couple of months the main waterpipe fell off too, fortunately whilst driving around town so no engine damage. On the plus side it was much cheaper than a Jap built Vit and the spares are a 1/3 the price. Biggest downside is an 8V TBI engine in a year 2000 car, electrics that differ significantly from the early models and no FSM.
