Hey Guys and Girls ;)
My Trackickvit is lifted with the pro comp 3" system. Now because I don't have a spacer on top of the axle (yet) my LSPV (Load Sensing Proportioning Valve) is way off of the normal position so my rear won't brake. Is there a way to adjust that? Because it failed the yearly check up on this (mainly) and I can't drive it now >:(
I have the older type with the spring and arm assembly.

If I remember correctly it is actuated by a long spring that is hooked to the upper V-bar. Why could you not get a longer attachment and or just disconnect it till after the inspection. That would make the rears have max pressure going to them during the test (If i am thinking correctly)

Hey Zig,
Thanks, I think I might fab up a little spacer on it so it'll be in allmost the original position or something, must try driving it with it disconnected maybe see if it works ;)

p.m. Safarikick. He made a spacer to raise the arm up to the original position off of the third member. His problem was a loss of rear brakes due to the angle of the arm. When you raise the frame it changes the angle at the third member,causing the valae to DECREASE rear brake pressure. Hpoe this helps! :)

to get the rear brakes working good, with out a spacer, you need to pull the lever on the LSPV down, or get a tighter and shorter spring. seeing as the lever is on the other side of the arm mounts, the lift makes it think its light, and not loaded.
so try a shorter spring 1st, or a tighter one, and if it doesn't work, you may need to make up a spacer for the ball joint.
i dont think it's worth running with it disconnected, even though the rears are drums after all.

A ball-joint spacer is in the works ;) and so is a driveshaft spacer. So I'll get my downtravel back ;D but for now I think I'll try to adjust the lever so it sits lower, maybe tightening the screws on top?

im haveing kinda the same problem except it acts like its not releasing the brakes once i hit the brakes it feels like the emergency brake is on like the valve isnt letting the pressure off the rear brakes,thinking about taking the valve out?

I have my proportioning valve tied wide open.I hooked the spring to the bracket that holds the upper v bar. Ive had it that way since day 1. My brakes work perfect. Might want to try it.

I dont' have one of those on my 95 and the rear brakes suck, too.

So that is opening it all the way up, and in a sense, bypassing it, correct?

The LSPV is an advustable proportioning
valve, better than any you could buy to
replace it, remember the rear balljoint spacer
that I was trying to get a group buy on ?
Well it addresses this problem, and is one
reason I built it, also no LSPV will lock up
the rear brakes, something that you don't
want happening on a SWB vehicle
For all you guys with crappy brakes, get
some 4 door brakes, or switch to rear disks,
other than that, you could advust the LSPV
to increase the pressure to the rear brakes,
making them work harder, yet still adjusting
the brake force with the weight and axle position
I think tightening the nut on the adjuster will
increase the brake force, go slowly, too much is
a bad thing, you don't want lockups on that rear axle

Some come with rear antilock instead.

Thats gone with the ARB set up. I wonder if thats connected somehow to weak rear brakes?

Nope, thats not possible. Could be full of mud. :-/ You could upgrade to 96-98 shoes and hardware they work better.

i was mucking around with the LSPV today, and it was the VERY 1st time i've ever seen rear drum brakes lock up on a 4wd!
all i can say is..... SHHHCCCWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET.
anyway, i'm going to go and find a replacement spring for the original one i've taken off. and so at the moment, there is no provision for load sensing. its hard set at the moment. i've adjusted it so the rear only just locks on hard brakeing, and it wasn't even on the bitumen. i tested it on gravel/loose dirt. i've got better braking and pedal feel than ever before on my vit, but with all this mud up my way, theres no sustitute for rear discs.
its hard to explain, but i've added a nut on the adjuster bolt on top of the lever, so it pushes the valve half way in. i had it tight (all the way in) and the rear was locking every time i had the brakes on. this was using 2 nuts. so i took one off, and it was just right.
i'd much rather leave it this way, as i hardly ever carry a rear seat for passengers, and on rear occasions, tow a fully laden trailer, so i will be looking at getting a tighter/ softer shorter spring. this will be only until i get my spacer made for the rear ball joint.
i can get pics if people are interested, but judging by some other posts, this is not really a major issue.

I could use a pic, since I have NI idea where that stupid little lever thingie is at.
In a coupel weeks won't matter tho. Ordering the rear disc brackets soon, and already got all the parts (cept proptioning valve) gathered up.
