Title: Anyone have the 15 gallon fuel tank for the samurai?
Post by: Terry329 on January 24, 2006, 08:12:44 PM
I was considering buying one but haven't heard anything good or bad about them,  I have to fill up every 4th day with the daily driving I do and was looking at options, thanx for any input.

Well they hang down alot kinda in the way if you go off road alot in the rocks, and there about 350.00 bucks, a good jerry can is only about 35.00.

Petroworks claims that the one one they sell doesn't hang any lower than a stock tank. I would have to agree about the jerry can though, much cheaper. You can spend the other $215 on something else (i.e. Lockers), or you could just buy more fuel.  ;D

Not sure if what I have is the same one you mean, got mine about 7-8 years ago as part of a limited initial run of them.  I like mine.  Doesn't hang down any farther than the factory tank and skidplate, and is built a lot sturdier than the factory stuff- I don't hesitate to use my tank as a lifting point with the floor jack.  Jerry can hanging off the back of a rig isn't legal everywhere, and the convenience of going farther/longer between fill ups is worth some to me.

I ended up putting in a 12 gal poly cell that I got off of ebay.  There are pics of it in my photo album.
