Title: Fix for floppy Tracker license plate light/tailgate handle cover thing?

So as you can see the light cover thing on my tailgate is floppy.  Only held in place by the light sockets and their wiring now.  The little metal tabs that were on there are just rusted away stumps.  So has anyone found a fix for these?

Ok Guys,

I fixed mine with 2 sided tape.Worked like a charm.Been over a year.Make sure you get the good kind,not the white crap.Mine was 3M gray with red tape.

on my last tracker, I used a 2 part epoxy, worked very well

I will try to get some close ups.. I took four pieces of metal strapping, cut them about an inch long, drilled two hole in each one, bent them 90 degrees and drilled the tailgate and the cover thingy...  used sheet metal screws.. and FIXED for good. it WON'T be coming off again, once I painted it, you can barely see it..

I have some JBWeld and I have some metal strapping material here.  I think if I ever get this thing running again (yeah right ::) ) I might try one of those.  Thanks guys.

that's what i'm talking about!  i need a lot of "zukers" to move to walker Co. Alabama so i'll have someone to go riding with!  its no fun when you have to compete with nothing but full-size trucks (z71, f150's, k5 blazers)

I did a little sloppy job, as I just wanted it STRONG..

No glue needed, it ain't going nowhere..

I didn't have a close up, so I blew up a pic I had..  Notice, I had forgotten to pull the masking tape off the lock when this pic was taken.... lol.


Hey, this tracker came from Michigan too!  LOL.. salt had definitely done it's damage.. but I think I have it under control...

Gets the idea across, and works FINE...

Gimme 2-3 years on the outside and the wife and I will be somewhere warmer.  I want to go southwest, she wants to go south.  Either way, it won't be here in the land of roadsalt.

Why not get a new bracket? I bought one in a junkyard for 5 bucks for my Sammi ;)

Yeah, someone just told me how they mount on another forum.  That would be the easiest way. :P  Oh well, I'm not bothering with it now.

Just rip it off itll be one less thing for the tree branches to rip off .. no seriously i had to buy a new one after a drunk friend ripped it off trying to open my tailgate it was only 15 bux from gm
