i just bought a 97' tracker.i really like its gas mileage and its off road capilbilities.but i want more.i want to keep it my daily driver but also mod it up for better off road enjoyment.could somebody please tell me some things i could do to my tracker to make it better.thank you

Welcome to Zukiworld, you are going to love the tracker. What you can do with the tracker really depends on how much money you want to spend, how much time (and skill) you have to work on it, and how serious you want to get.
For starters I would suggest you look in the technical archive.

Welcome!  Im fairly new to modding my Tracker too.  I can do a basic rundown of things for you until someone more knowledgable is around.
Lifting:
-Coil Spacers - (Variable, make em however big you want)  1.5 Inch spacers is good size.  Any more than that and you may have camber issues in the front.  These will provide somewhere around 2.5-3 inches of life on the front, 1.5 inches of lift in the rear.  I hear this evens the ride out nicely.
-Body Lifts - I dont like them but, they 're cheap and effective for bigger tires.  Ask around, there is some good info about how to make these.
Tires
-Stock tire is 205/75/R15
-Biggest you can go without any lifting is around a 235/75/R15
-From what I hear 31" tires are a wonderful compromise between daily driving and off-roading
Rims
-Stock is 15 x 5.5
-You can get some wider rims if you like that look.  15 x 7 or 8" rims look good on Track/Kicks
-Stock backspacing on rims is something like 4".  Try to go a little less if you plan on lifting and getting bigger tires.  3.5" would work but, I beleive its 2.75" that alot of members here like on serious rigs.
-Remember, Zuki rims need a 5x5.5 bolt pattern (Most jeep rims wont work on them.  Ford truck rims oftentimes are good replacements.
Thats the basics, more knowledged people can explain things like lockers, SAS setups, and other things. Hope this info offers a decent starting point.

thank you very much for ya'lls comments. my tracker does have 235/75-15 lemans a/t's on it now.i reallly like the way it pulls. anyways as i do the mods i'll keep ya'll posted.and my mechanical skills are high, look at my cars in my sig.i am really a drag racer that got a good deal on this tracker and now i like it better than my hotrods.

Dirttracker, I hear you. I am new to Zuks myself.. but have been bitten HARD..
I suggest a good 2" suspension lift (Calmini, BDS, OME, Rocky Road) etc.... then stuff and trim till you can get a GOOD 31" mud tire under it (or at least so it will stuff and droop well)
From there... the sky is the limit... really..
I made the mistake of getting high quality 235's.... now I am basically out that money, cause that lasted like a week, I ordered 31's last night... lol.. I could have spent the original $400+ on something else... wah!

Welcome to the boards...
If you can get away to Indiana this summer, plan on attending Zukimelt. It's traditionally the wekend after the fourth of July. In years past it has been about 200 Suzukis of all types for three days of wheeling and camping at Badlands Off Road Park in Attica, IN. If you are still mostly stock, you will get plenty of ideas there.
IZOOK.COM should be posting info for this year pretty soon.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Zuk's. We just picked up a 97 Tracker for my wife and she loves the thing. It will stay pretty mild for a while. To hard for her to get child seats into a lifted rig. ;D That just gives us a lot of time to plan and shop for parts. ::)

Alot of guys are running spring spacers for lift and a bodylift for tire clearance. I opted for a "suspension system" that was designed to provide articulation. Best thing I did to it so far. Made a huge differance in the way it moved through rough stuff and maintained traction. Just my 2 cents.

Don't know too much about it. In the shot at the track it was still a stock 1.6L 8V SOHC 4 cyl. engine with a Calmini header, velocity stack and solid motor mounts. At the track, stock wheels & tires, he did the 1/4 in 17.14 sec |removethispart|@ 75.4 mph. Not a rocket yet but he is making more mods. It now has racing wheels, slicks, etc. His name is Kirby, I think, from central Florida. He calls it the "Psyko Chiwaawaa". I thought it was pretty cool. Like to see what it will do with a few engine mods. I use to have a VW Rabbit with a built 1.6 in it. It could do around 12.7 |removethispart|@ 111 MPH. So I know you can make a little motor in a little car go. Hmmm? Maybe I should build a Tracker for the sand drags. ;D

Hey Guys;
I see y'all talking about my drag Tracker "Psyko Chiwaawaa". It is a great deal of fun and I love the compliments and of course the negative comments as well. Matter-of-fact I like racing my Tracker more than the '69 Chevelle I used to have.
If you have any questions send them on, because I also need some help from y'all gaining some more HP. I have a '96 1.6L Suzi motor I want to drop in it but I want to keep the 8V head. I would really like to go with a carb setup but can't find the info. Can y'all help me out?
