I have a 93 sidekick four door that I just put in a new motor. Drove it for about a month and the tranny slipped. Changed the fluid and filter and still slips, will not go into 3rd. Any other idea besides a new tranny?? If I do a new tranny can I use my 5spd , without having to change computers. Thanks

If it started all at once, you probably need the
valve body pulled apart and cleaned out. Otherwise
Tranny time

Ya it was just all at once. Is the valve body easy to get to and clean?? Thanks
-
Not too bad for me and my brother, for
you ??? I really can't say, there are lots
of small parts, springs and ball bearings
and tubes that slip in and can be a pain
I would enlist the help of a motorhead, or
take it to a shop, don't let them talk you
into rebuilding the trans, as I think they might
The valve body is the life of the trans, and
controls all it's workings.
Good Luck

I'm pretty mechanical (and am a body man, not that this helps ::)) is there diagrams for this or something I can use as a reference. Thanks

I can get some info for you, My brother just
changed his ATF in a 95 4 door and it started
acting up, we just did this about 3 weeks ago.
The trans you have, does it have a stamped
steel pan? if it is, it might be a GM trans, otherwise
it's an Assi/warner and you need to order a valve body
gasket set, the gaskets will flake and be a mess all
over the place, this is what causes many problems, we
found this gasket material all thru the valve body, as
well as worn metal dust from the plates and stuff.
A complete diss-assembly and cleaned everything, blown
out with air, checked and cleaned all the passages and
took apart all pistons and double piston assemblies, dipped
all parts in clean DexronIII and re-assembled.
Trans worked great after that, snappy shifts, no slippage
and feels solid and new, gasket set was gotten from TavoMatic
in El Monte Ca. The owners name is Tavo and was lots of help.
This same trans is used in Toyotas also, so parts are not
hard to get, but they are hard to cross reference.
I'll post more details later when I get the gasket set #
and I can give you the Ph #, problem is they don't ship
so I don't know if you can get them to send it to you or
if you can get it from another, more local to you dealer

It has a steel oil pan.

Can you snap a Digi pic ?
Just to be sure on which one
I think you got a Asine Trans in that year
-
ya I'll take on tomorrow. Thanks

Hey wild what do you think? is this the gm tanny or the other one. Thanks
-
That's an Asine/warner, same as used by Toyota
I'll find out what model you order the gaskets for
and post it sometime tonight
-
Thanks You are the man again ;D

1 bodyman to another, I can take anything apart & put it back together and make it look like I know what I'm doing .
If it works when I'm done is another story ;D ;D ;D ;D
Good luck :)

It's not too bad, just don't mix up the parts,
and you might want 2 pairs of hands, there
are some spring loaded parts that will be easier
to assemble that way.
Make sure you keep track of where the ball bearings
go on the plate between the halvs of the body and
use a little sticky grease to keep them in place during
assembly.
The hardest part is getting the kick down linkage cable
off of the cam, and the shortest tube on the botton is
a little hard to get in, but they just slide in and are snug fit
