Title: Testing Intrest
Post by: Mythose on February 02, 2006, 10:44:03 AM
I have been looking at a 6" SUS lift for the track kick,  it would require some fab skills to install, IE replaceing the front crossmember on the chassis and installing the 3 link on the rear "the kit will include a beefed up front crosmember that mounts closer to the front, all of the lift components IE a-arms, bolts ETC and  a 3link kit for the rear"  the kit will alow for maximum ground clearance and height, and solve the camber and cv angel issues faced with conventional lifts, IE the cvs can only take 2.5"  until you get in the danger zone -   this kit would not be a combo body sus lift it will give at least 6" of lift at the suspention level, and remove the need for raising the body and lifting the gas tank ETC. all of the pieces will be MILLED out of HIGH grade STEEL , and will be avalible in stainless--- however sainless would be considerably more expensive.

looking at a target price of less than the calmi combo kit
however we will see what the Machiening costa and COM are going to be before I start quoteing prices.

ok any way what do you guys think? would any of you buy it - at a reasonable price.

I'd buy one for the 4-door if:

1. the price point was reasonable

and

2. I can count on -- AT THE VERY LEAST -- the product being available when I buy it.  No "vaporware".

when i have a price it will be avalible, should have the first done in june but - it might be sooner depents on how much time i get to play with Auto Cad -  and how much the steel will cost.  but the machienist building it is a budy of mine - and has an intrest in seeing it in production as well as on his 92 tracker.    thank you for the feed back,

I'll second that. ::)  Along with their 8" suspension lift that's been "coming soon" for what...4-6 years or so now?

I'd be very interested. What front axle would you use?

Sounds like he's thinking of a 4"-6" IFS drop.... Which isn't a bad idea, the whole point is to get on thoes bigger tires  ;D

You may want to check out Jim Mazolla's 9" design, I think it's a little high, but that's just me, I think a 4" to 6" would suite me more... It's an extensive amount of design and fab work, it's no wonder there is nothing over 3" available, it would be too expensive and risky for a company to produce and hope they sell enough to make a profit.

A 6" lift kit ( sus only ) is very acheivable - I mean Mr Hagen "enhanced" his Calmini 3" kit to 5" so another inch is on the cards.
If you are going ahead with this then I strongly suggest you address the CV thing - this is the key to ANY lift on Kicks.
I am about to build another "Star" and I will be testing an idea I have regarding the CV's, Basically the idea is to build mini drive shafts with slip joints that fit in place of the stock CV's and half shafts. My rig is going to run 37" MTR's, locked f&r with dual T cases = plenty of stress.
The idea behind mini shafts is that - Danas run UJ's in the knuckle and seem to hold up so why not UJ's both ends, large half shafts / slip joints ( for strength ) and a slip joint with enough travel so they will fit any Kick / GV / XL7 installation ;D

Anyway - 6" lift kit - go for it and good luck.

I like that thought.
