kinda dumb question but i think it would work or maybe not can you use a two wheel drive tranny out of a sidekick or tracker when doing this swap with out buying the bell housing bolt up kit? or is out of the question?

It can be done and I have done it a couple of times. The problem I had with the 2wd tranny was two fold. First, the shifting was sloppy and I just don't like that. Second, and the real big reason I went away from doing this was that the tranny likes to dump it's oil out of the shifter boot (no matter how good it is) when you're climbing steep inclines. Makes a mess and if you don't check it enough and refill it, you burn up the bearings and it's noisy. So, I went back to an adapter and a tight Samurai tranny. One thing I did really notice and like though was that the bigger flywheel made the bottom end / crawling much better.
