Title: 8 valve vs. 16 valve bottom end
Post by: troyshere on February 07, 2006, 06:49:35 PM
Can anyone tell me if the bottom end of a 8 valve is the same as a 16 valve?

Can you just swap heads or is there more to it?

...and swap pistons.

I know that there are double counter weights
on the 16V engines, not sure if the early 16V
got them, but I know 95' have it.

IIRC MarkyB has an 8V head on an 16V bottom end with no problems. The valve pockets are different so a 16V head on an 8V might not work. I think the way Mark has it also gives a little CR boost.

Yes, I hear the 16V is a higher compression
piston, and works with the 8V head.
