Howdy.
A few people here may know of 3tech performance, and that is me ;D
www.teamswift.net/3tech
I have set a few land speed records in the 1.0l class at the Maxton mile, and plan to go back for a few more. After that, I have my sights set on several 750cc records. I would like to build a 3cyl. Metro based car at 750cc, and use as many Suzuki parts as possible. I was just wondering if anybody has, or can direct me to info on these 800cc, and 970cc 4cyl. Sammi motors? I'm thinking that I might be able to use pistons, rods, etc., or even complete motors with a de-stroke, or sleeve to get the displacement I'm after. If anyone knows of any available motors, that would be good too. I'm located in Ontario, Canada.
Thanks

How about telling everyone a little about what you can do cam wise for the G16B.

Sure, no problem.
I can do cams for most Suzuki applications.
This is a list of the grinds that I do mostly, and applications.
I have some cores, but not all.
Lift is listed as gross (at the valve) in inches, and duration is measured at .050" lift, at the valve.
The 89-up 3cyl and GT have the same valvetrain design, so these are listed together.
Lift/Dur
305/184
335/200
340/210
340/215
350/218
350/225
365/222
375/226
85-88 3cyl/85-94 1.3 8V
358/212
375/216
380/240
395/226
420/254
448/240
1.3/1.6 16V SOHC
340/200
355/204
365/210
I can do cams for other applications, but these are the most popular ones. I have cores for both 3cyl. motors, GTi's, and pre 95 4cyl. 8V, but not for SOHC 16V motors.
Cost without cores USD
89-up 3cyl. $130
Early 3cyl/4cyl 8V $150
GTi/16V SOHC $280
For comparison, stock profiles are
Lift/Duration at .050"
85-87 1.0/3cyl 330 /192
89-01 1.0/3cyl 330 /198
GT I 295/192 E295 /198
Cultus I 305/192 E305/198
1.3 8V 330/192
1.3 16V SOHC 308/184
1.6 8V 202/356
1.6 16V I 308/192 E308/198
If anybody can help me with my 750cc project, I would appreciate it.
Thanks again.

Cool list of cams there. I might have to git me sum. Anyway as for the help on the 970cc motor. Rick at Hawk Strictly Suzuki has a lot of new parts for the 1 liter that was in the SJ410 which, I think, has some of the same pieces parts. Maybe worth a call. 1-888-SAMURAI
Good luck, -Eric

Type F10A SOHC
Cylinders 4
Bore 65.5mm
Stroke 72.0mm
Displacement 970cc
Compression ratio 8.8:1
I have an FSM so I might have some more specific info if you need it.

So are we talking the same cast iron block engine that is in the SJ410 that is referred to as a "1 liter"?
simpler terms: 1L engine = 970cc engine :)

Thanks for the info. I did a bit of searching last night and found some good bore/stroke info.
What I need now is the crank throw (rod throws) journal diameters.
If I can use a piston rod combo from an F10 4cyl. in a G10 3cy, I'll be laughing.
It looks like the F8(800cc), and F10 (1000cc) are the same block, and possible head? Maybe a sleeved F8 would be the way to go?
Good luck finding one, I guess...

Its the same block for sure, I have heard of a couple of SJ410s that turned out to have 800cc motors fitted (no one knows when or by whom). I have heard that the head is different, from what I remember of mine I don't think the valves would clear the block in a 800cc bore. The head is at my father's house. I will probably pick it up at the w/e and I'll have another look at it then.
Edit:
FSM gives big end bearing diameter as 37.985-38.000mm (1.4954-1.4960in)

Awesome ;D ;D
The more info I can find, the better.
Thanks!!

Thanks again for the info.
It looks like I can sleeve the G10 block, go with 66mm o/s F10 pistons, offset grind the crank to a stroke of 72mm (from 77mm), using the smaller journal F10 rod, and get a 738cc motor. See my ad in the FS section :)
