Title: 2001 XL7 service manual - what a steal
Post by: sapien on February 27, 2006, 07:50:55 PM
wow I just got the genuine Suzuki factory service manual for only $48 plus shipping!  it is the full 2-volume printed set and is available from www.suzukipitstop.com

for whatever reason it is quite a bit cheaper than the 2002+ versions.

Damn, multiply that by 2.5 and that's about what I paid for my GV's FSM from them. :P

How's the detail on the rear air?  Considering....perhaps....attempting to transfer it in some measure into my SWB along with all the other stuff on my plate.  Would be nice to give the dog better cooling back there sometimes..  I only have the Tracker's $FSM, so I'm lacking specifics in rear air stuff and whatever's different in the 2.7 from the 2.5.

Anybody got a Chilton's or Hayne's?  Can you take a peek in there and see if there's good info on 2.7 removal/installation and the rear air system?  I may just grab one of those if it'll do me well enough to get by.

what's a SWB?

the chapter on HVAC is close to 50 pages and quite a bit of it is about the rear A/C

is it true it's a good idea to add an extra ounce or two of refrigerant oil to the system when equipped with rear A/C?

good news/bad news I think...

it is not a 2-volume set, they actually sent me two of the same thing!

and the reason it's only $48 is that it in 2001 they separated out the XL7-specific info into a separate service manual.  so if I want a 100% complete reference I should also buy the GV manual.  this is a sizable manual though, remains to be seen what it lacks.

SWB = Short wheelbase.  2-dr Tracker in my case.  Not technically much of a rear-air candidate, but if I could find a relatively simple way to transfer it over..

Dunno about the extra oil.  I've read the same thing, probably in the same places.
