Pop off your distributor cap, and dry it out. Water in the distibutor, I assume, is the #1 cause of vehicles going through water dying. I've done it a bizillion and a half times.

i checked it when i got out and it seemed dry :-\
ill go check it again now .

nope she is dry , any other ideas?

well, my motor is doing the same thing, but kinda worse. dropped the oil, a bit of water through the oil. checked plugs and leads, and it runs ok, but not great. i cant start my car, the starter clicks, and tries to turn the motor over, but its like the motor doesnt wanna go. the battery is ok, lights are all bright and so on. if i push start my car, it will start and drive, but will not idle.
i have a 8V 1.6, with a weber carby. not a great set up for this kinda stuff, but i guess we're always gonna keep going harder, deeper and steeper!

Just a side note on water sports. I crossed some 4' deep pools in the flats of the dunes about 6 months ago in my van. Nothing got in the engine but it did get into my rear differential through the vent tube. I was careless and lazy and didn't check it out. Lately I noticed some rear end noise so I opened it up and alot of water came out. I flushed it and added new oil with an additive (Lucas). Still got the noise though. Must have damaged the axle bearings. :'(
Just thought I'd mention that so you have something else to worry about. ;)

I bet you have some water/mud in your gas tank. I'd suggest draining the fuel tank, replacing the fuel filter, refilling with nice fresh gas.
Good luck, Eric

hey Sik didn't you get you trucklet taken off the road by the Gov't.....I guess you got it back on OK....i remember you saying that you need mud flaps and the gass tank was visible.

yeah, nearly 6 months ago. i did what they wanted, which was fit a new exhaust, fit a rear bar, and some rear mudflaps, replace the BL i had with a proper one, and a steering shaft extension. and i had to go back to 31"s from 33"s cos they weren't happy.
every since its been back on the road, and on its side and in a couple of sinks. mud flaps came off somehow, not sure, but i havent been pulled up yet. thank god, touch wood.
well i wonder hoe water gets into the fuel tank. last time i had the tank out, i made sure everything was sealed good. and its pretty high now, but come to think of it, the top of the tank sits almost level with the top of the rear tyres. crap.
thanks guys.

I've had water get into the tank before and it wasn't too bad now that I know what to look for. Check the fuel filter first, you may be able to use some compressed air to blow it clean...

Did you check the air filter? It might have gotten wet which would block enough air that it would run like you describe...

Hi team,
To anyone who sees a lot of H2O ( water ). Every now and then put either some injector cleaner OR half a cup of methylated spirits in your tank.
REASON: Both of these encapsulate the water in the fuel and then it goes through your system and gets burnt - RESULT: No more water ;D
A trick I used to do on my MX bikes - and it works ;)
PS: You may have got water in your carb' - possibly entered through the breather tubes / holes.

If you had just driven through the middle you would have been okay, Like me (orange one in the back ground).
