Post by: delorean on March 04, 2006, 10:14:29 PM
hey has anyone had a problem with there idle on a sidekick? i have a 91 4x4 2 door and it has started to idle at 2300 rpm. it stops the high idle and returns to 800 rpm after driving about a minute. if i turn it off and restart it the high idle comes back and stays high until i drive it for a minute. any suggestions? thanks guys

had the same problem with a 94 16V I got about 2 months ago.  Vehicle had sat and was not driven much prior.  it would idle high in N or P (auto tran) but be fine in D.  Had to change out gas tank, filter etc due to other problems (rust)  had a shop change timing belt and do tune up.  Idle is now ok but shop was not sure what caused it and thinks the ECU may need replaced.  a chiltons manual says it can be a number of different problems including the inmstrument cluster speedo?  some kind of idle box built in it.  good luck
