Title: occasional gas odor

anyone else ever have a random smell of gas?  I notice it sometimes when the vents are on, not often though... maybe something with the vapor canister or fuel line?  is this a known problem with the XL7/GV?

I will get the fule smell if I top it off when filling it.  Which I guess means that I'm over filling it.  but other than that no.

have not noticed this anymore; wonder if it had anything to do with cold weather or winter-blend gas.

Maybe you stepped in a puddle of gas at a gas station.  If you then used "recirculate" on your blower, that would certainly give you the odor, especially if it got into your carpeting.
