Do you guys and gals think that there is any advantage to having Bosch 4 prong plugs over there 2 prong plugs? I'm doing a major tune-up in the following 30 days and I need some input. Thanks for any info!!! :D

Don't buy into the BS if you think
you are going to get 4 big ole hot
sparks, most of the time the spark
jumps to 1 maybe 2 ground electrodes
For the $$ I think platinum is the
way to go

Yup!
'lectricity takes the shortest/easiest path to ground, and ~99% of the time through only 1 prong. This is due to the fact that once the circuit is made the charge is over.
To me the 'quad' plugs are a HUGE sales gimmick, and it's working too! About the only plus I can see to them as that you won't have to change your plugs as often because as soon as one of the prongs burns up, you've got 3 more there ready to go.
Also, if you get plugs get platnium 'trodes. They don't burn up as fast as silver or copper.
-
I put the bosch 4 platium in my zuki i noticed a difference. but my 1.8 has coil packs. there not to get more spark but a hotter spark. The only real difference i notcied is on high end above six grand i noctied more responsive. It might have something to do with my chip to. and they were only 1 dollar more a spark plug over the bosch 2 platium.

NGK VPower platnium, run them in all my cars and trucks, and run regular NGk in my lawn mower chainsaw, and Go-Kart.
-
Yeah, I've consider NGK...maybe I should just get those.
Suzuki recommends NGK also...
-
I will second the NGK, good plug. If you are worried about them burning up just replace them more often, I mean only like 8 bucks with tax for a set.
-
NGK V plugs have worked very well in all of my vehicles. I tried the 4 prong NGK plugs once and was very dissapointed, curiously they didn't last anywhere near as long as the Vs.
-
I couldn't believe what changing my plugs (bosch plat4s) and wires did to my car! I noticed instantly better performance and a little bit of better fuel economy. Guess it just burns better and cleaner... Is a hotter ignition coil a next good step in that area? I'm sure there's something out there that burns a little hotter than what my stock coil does...

Then if the cost of the 4-pronged ones cost just around double the 2-pronged ones it should be the same, so get the 4-pronged ones so you'll just have to replaced it after a longer time than usual...
:-/

I use NGk so I dont have to replace them as often, I put the Bosh 4 prong crapers in my acura,"some arse at shucks recomended it for better preformance", 100 miles and 4 bad plugs, put the NGK in and 2000 miles later no problemb, also i used to run the autolight plugs in the Suburban, sposed to be better for american cars "yeah like atom boms are good for the enviroment" keept fouling the plugs ever 2 or 3 days, had to take um out, clean um off with a NYLON brusn, NOT WIRE!!! and put them back in, it has had the NGK in it for 4k miles and they are not fouled, should be replaced but it runs just as good as it would with new plugs :-/ so it needs an oil change to but BAH, 15 bucks at Wally world.
-
Err 6 bad plugs in the acura and at almost $6 each I about showed that sales person were to screw them in!!!
-
i got a question. how is the world you fouling so many plugs? last time i fouled that many plugs was when i mixed the oil and gas wrong in my dirt bike? :D
-
I duno but it fouled all the bosh plugs, and i have not had any problemb with the NGK.

Sounds like the wrong heat range.
I ran NGKs in my Honda VFR750, was supposed to change them every 8,000 miles. Every time time I took them out they looked like new. Still did 50mpg and 100-130mph in under 10secs (my test for 'needs a service'  ;D). I ended up changing them at 24K (I did 50K a year). I ran one set for 35K before I thought I had better change them 'just in case', the new ones didn't make any difference. ÂÂ
-
Yep NGK all the way. cept in a volkswagon I ran bosh in my Turbo Fox.
-
Well I bought NGK Platinum today. They have Iridium plugs too but they were the most expensive.
Next I gotta get the cap and rotor.
-
Under the hood there is a spark plug
# for NGK, Denso and Bosch plugs, my
own preference is NGK or Denso in
Japan made cars and Bosch in Euro
cars and Autolites or AC Delco in US
made cars, seems like the right thing
to do, tho I have had problems with
NGKs in a Motorcycle, and a constant
one, so I grabbed an old worn out
Bocsh plug from my VW Bug and never
changed it again, go figure :)

I'll second Wildgoody's comments
Japanese engines seem to like NGK
Bosche seems to work well in European cars other than Italian
American stuff seems to like Autolite and AC
Nothing seems to like Champion (except race engines cause they make the best selection of heat ranges and it just don't matter how long they last, it's a race car)
FWIW

Italian cars don't run well no matter the plug :P ;)

Notice I didn't even mention those, never got any
life out of Champions, they just seem to be junk :P

Champion plugs were by the far the least expensive. I had those in my ride many years ago and boy did they suck.

NGK and Denso are the same plug, just sold under diffrent names to difrent auto parts stores, go to shucks and ask for a Denso plug, the guy will likley look at you stupid.
I mean shucks and Autozone cant have the same line of "premium spark plugs, kind of like the air and oil filters, and a few other things" used to be a Manager at shucks.
and as far as shucks saying well our autolight alternators are the best things on earth, they are verry good, however the same company makes reman altenaators for 2 other auto parts suppliers, under a diffrent name then auto light.
any way my 2bits

I thought Nippondenso and NGK were
two different companys, and Denso was
just short for the long name ???

Last I knew, well they are sister companys, GM and Chevy, Benz and Dodge, Dodge and Jeep, but it is prety much the same thing, take the 2 and put them side by side, V-power diode and everything the same, and the V-Prong is patened!
