Just curious to know what stock parts everyone has broken, and where or what broke on the part.
Please include the truck model, and anything else you'd like to add. 8)

hello.
I have a Kick/UK vitara. model 1992 softop.
I run 33.12.50s and calmini 6" combo with a few add ons lockers etc.
I have broken a 22 spline inner front drive shaft. a 3rd member mount this was on the same day at a competion so I was giving it all.
Twisted a set of rear shafts
Things broken due to bad maintenance on my side :-(
stock crown wheel front.. too much back lash worn bearings
another front shaft but it was twisted before it went in
Engine blow up but that was down to mis use from the previous owner.
I have lost count of how many alternators and starters and usally change the rear bearings once a year and front about 6 times a year lol :-) about twice a year.
Brake pads and rear shoes every few month depending where i drive.
We hit a lot of sand over here and the mud is thick and nasty
And there it is :-)

Too many Aluminum diff housings (the mounting ears), I've pulled a few CV shafts apart at the cage somehow, had a wheelbearing go out (completely my fault), had a couple fucked clutch cables, replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, had the head rebuilt due to a couple burnt valves (previous owner) and probably some other stuff.
-
Clutch Cables,Many CV's at every possible breaking point, Rear axle shafts, many mufflers riped out, mirrors, riped the stock rear bumper off, headlight, tail light, grill, Locker Pins, Lockout hub, bent frame, bent rims, driveshaft. I'll post more if I think of it.
89 Kick, Calmini 3+3 modified lift, 5.83's, 4:1, locked front and rear, 33x12.50's, etc........

I broke 2 rear axle shafts and 1 rear ring and pinion. Not that I'm complaining, but I've never broke anything in the front. Are you guys in reverse when you snap parts or what ???
Brian

Not me, all of my front end parts were blown apart going forward :-/

On the Gnewt, I have broken the mounting tab on the front 3rd member carrier.  Replaced with a steel GV 3rd member carrier.  Let's see...
...hmm...
EDIT: Bent my stock idler arm big time at Zukfari last year. Replaced with Sky idler arm.
...well, that's about it.  Even with wheeling Moab, and all over the mountains of Colorado, I just haven't broken much.  I must be a wuss driver.
-
Sheared the bolts holding the hub on... twice. ;D
Ends up the springs on the passenger side of the Ez-Locker were sheared in half so it wasn't locking up correctly.
-
Stock alum front housing (first time out)
Calmini rear 3rd link (stripped threads)
Rear framed cracked (too much back bumper?, but now fixed for good)
beside that, Nothing else ;D

Brian
I was in reverse when i did the 3rd and crown wheel.
I might have a pic somewhere but i was in sand backed up against a ledge you couldnt see my 33" tires and I had the rear winch going and i was helping it along when too much torgue and BANG!! lol
an acceptable break as a beefed up Landrover broke a rear shaft on the same part
-
I broke my stock engine ...2.0L V6 :P....probably the valve seals..
-
I broke the windshield ! I was joking around and headbutted it from the inside and it shattered like into a million pieces.
-
Only thing to go on me was my timing belt tensioner, and my fuel pressure regulator.
-
Would my Sammi beating the heck outta 2 CD players count ? ;

Would my Sammi beating the heck outta 2 CD players count ?  ;

;D Hey there guys it is wonderfull to know i am not alone in the zooky world, I have had two rigs in the past 4 years and now driving full cal.kit big tires and bad aditude aimed at small jeeps.
I have learned much about my zook 1997 sidekick
If i can figure it out i will post pic. your rigs look great.
abit more rugged then mine but mine has most of the under sided parts.
I have lost the plastic button on the reclining back seat.
One cd player (got wet)
shift knob ( where would that go?)
The small guide for the top of the window . (trash)x6 or so

soft top now running fiberglass top (noisey)
One set center line alum.rims look great bad choice.

head light bulbs by the bulk pack..
head light housing cant get the mud out.
and the last thing that comes to mind is the tail pipe i know i broke this because i dont think all that black smoke is right?
-
Front housings, C/Vs, inner axles and R&Ps (too many to remember.)
Stock clutch x2
Starter motors x3
Auto hubs 1 set
Exhaust ( Run it over myself :P)
Rear wheel bearings, brake shoes and wheel cylinders (mud kills them regularly)
Front grill (fence post attacked it)
Windscreen (Tree attacked it)
-
I forgot to mention the exhaust. Broke it into 3 pieces when I didn't quite make it up a short vert climb and droped the rig on the tailpipe.
Broke the center flange, both sides of the muffler, and filled the tailpipe with about 4" of packed dirt/mud. ;D

7 years later and this thread still lives.... but its a good topic.
Lets see I recently pulled of my drivers door handle and sent it flying into a new home in a tree...
Rear driveshaft U-joint decided that it DID NOT like the angle of the crawl back to dry land after leaving the creekbed....
Passenger mirror musta had something against the road vibrations that emit from TSL swampers as the head nut snapped off...
Just minor stuff.... but then I am tweaking around on it constantly. ;D

I'm in the KILLED AM/FM/CD player Group (Several), Nevada "Alkali" dust just gets into every thing (1) and Trail Pounding others.
Also I have Rear Spring issues; Lateral Cracked 2, Wrapped up one at the front Eye, but it has always made it home!!
AND THE DREADED CRANK KEY WOBBLE OUT !!

All of these are Samurai parts (won't list the parts from my non-samurai wheeling rigs):
1. Multiple front and rear wheel bearings.
2. EFI ECU (twice)
3. 2 head units (both completely submerged in water)
4. 4 windshields (most spectacular one was a tow hook from the backside...whizzed right by my head)
5. Soft top (see above)
6. 4 rear axleshafts, 2 each side
7. One stock front birfield joint
8. Two inner longfield axle shafts
9. at least 5 alternators
10. One transfer case (split in half)
11. One transmission (input shaft broke and destroyed the clutch and transmission case)
12. One stock 1.3l engine (ran out of oil, oops)
13. 2 1.6L VW diesel engines (have one on video where the crankshaft broke in half)
14. One front driveshaft
15. One rear driveshaft
16. Numerous u-joints in all 3 driveshafts
17. One tire sidewall (hole was the size of a coffee can)
18. One brake line (snagged on a tree limb)
19. One lock-rite locker side gear (destroyed when axle shaft broke)
20. 2 or 3 tcase mounts and arms
21. At least 3 motor mounts
22. One head gasket
23. One set of hub bolts (sheared all 6 off, might have been loose)
24. 2 shocks (both due to contacts with foreign objects)
25. One stock rag joint (off road, so no loss of steering on the road)
That's all I can remember for now...that list was all on my own Samurais; nothing pirated from a friend's rig!

How do you people manage to break so much stuff ???
I have a SJ413 narrow track, running 5.14:1 transfer with a 1,6 engine on 35" MTs
This is my list for the last 5 years:
2 leaf springs
3 U-joints
2 stock transfer case rubbers. (indian made crap, my stock -86 rubber mounts are still holding up)
3 shock absorbers (cheap ones)
1 rear wheel bearing
1 front wheel bearing, got mud in it and it locked up doing 60 :o
Not much really. I run hard stuff but I know the limitation of my rig and try not to push past that to often.
