Title: bRAKE UPGRADE FOR TWO DOOR QUESTION
Post by: bentparts on March 18, 2006, 07:12:18 AM
I want to do the 4 door brake upgrade ( rotors and calipers) to my 95 two door, what year 4 door parts should I buy? My local Zone just needs a model year year to get the right parts. Also need the caliper hangers I guess, so what year should I be looking for at the salvage  yards? Thanks, anyone?

brakes off of any year will work up to 97 i believe i used 93. when buying the calipers get loaded calipers and they will come with the brackets so youdont have to go to the wrecker.

I took front and rear brakes from a 94 4 door for my 91 2 door and everything bolted right up. Just had to trim the tin shield behind the rotors a smidge.  My 91 on 34's stops better than my 4 door on stock tires now.  I think you would be ok to get parts off any up to 98 but perhaps someone knows a bit better than me.

Does the stock 2 door master cylinder work for this or is it simply a matter of switching the brake parts down at the ends of the axles?

you dont need to change the master - it will work.

I used the frnt calipers and the mount (first part that the caliper touches) from a 94 2wd 4 door.  Later, I swapped in a different rear axle from a 98 4 door (for the brakes).  No issues either time.  This is a good time to change ALL your brake fluid.  If nothing else, get a Mity-vac vacuum pump with the brake bleeder kit.  Makes it easy.  I think Harbor Freight even has them on sale.

Enjoy!
