Title: Stock Axels... strong enough to wheel 31's?
Post by: r3cc0s on March 27, 2006, 09:45:51 AM
I'm thinking as mine is the 2.0L base LX tracker... the weight shouldn't be a big problem
However is there a chance that I'll be snapping axles w/ 31's?

I was thinking of locking the rear w/ an ARB as well... but I think running opens should be fine for now and less parts will break

Some people have had problems around the 31"-32" locked range.

Here's an example of Jeff's GV.  It's a very long thread, but he eventually started snapping rear axles pretty easily, locked with with 31's+++ (don't remember if he went bigger than that or not).  He also liked to climb pretty nasty rock stairs and stuff, so it depends on how hard you are on them.

Yeah but 245 is only 9.6 inchs wide the 31x10.5 are full inch wider so i think this will add grip.

Post more in bit

Wider tires = more traction = more likelyhood of breakage.
