Title: Biggest Tire Size in a 1.5" lifted Sidekick/Vitara
Post by: arkangel on March 30, 2006, 08:47:49 AM
Hi All,

I think this question has been done before but I'm not as good in english to search effectively in the search engine  :(

My Vitara is a 98, 2 doors, 5 Speed Manual tranny, Stock "everything" in the drivetrain, Just added a set of coil spacers (1.5" on front and 2" on back)

Actually I'm using 235/75 BF AllTerrains and they are almost flat. I'm saving some money for a new set of rubbers.

What's the maximum size of tires I can put on my truck?

I'm thinking about 30x9.5 OR 31x10.5  ::) but I don't want to loss some "horses" in power just to have 31's.....

Comments? I need the experience of you guys  ;D

Welcome aboard arkangel
I think that a 30"inch tire will get you what you want.
Just a hair power lost but not too bad (my daily driver has 32"s)
swapping out to 30-31"s on my daily driver is on my mind
(if I find a cheap good set used)

i have a 1.5 inch lift and run 30x9.5's, they rub on the frame only at full turn.  there is some power loss and i have the 2.0 4cyl, nothing to be worried about though.

How about some more photos of that front bumper?  Is the rear also custom?

Hey Hey guys, you are overreacting .......  ;D

and you've not seen the inside yet  ::)

My future plans are the 30x9.5 Muds, complete the instalation of the VHF/UHF second antenna setup, 800 MHz CDMA antenna, intall the wiring for brighter lights and design a mount system for my 60" Hi Lift jack, maybe on the roof rack.

I have 1 1/4 in front and 1 3/4 in rear and i fit 31 no prob. you have to give the inner fender some inspiration with a hammer but nothin too bad. if im haulin booty in the driveway it acccasionly rubs. but 99% i have no problems. good lookin bumpers by the way.

Nice work, arkangel!  I would appreciate if you could provide some more details because I would like to try making some for my 98 Tracker.  What did you use to bend the tubes?  I just got an oxy/acetylene welding kit and I'm going to try to teach myself how to weld.  Do you think I can make those bends with a torch?

Sorry to hear that some jackass decided to part with your Hellas.

Not pretty bends...   not with keeping them accurate.. if you can.. I would be highly impressed..

Get an el-cheap pipe bender from Harbor Freight..   takes a while but makes pretty OK bends..

I know that 31" BFGs MTs would fit but I think I'm going to loose more power... So maybe sticking on 235s or going up to 30s would be a smart choice. Man my 1.6 8V is slow now, so I don't want to be "slower"  ;D

I like bumpers made of tubing 'cause they're NOT heavy. That design looks lighter than mine  :o

The bender used is similar to that one used to bend exhaust pipes. But uses more PSIs because the wall of these tubes is a lil bit thicker.

I'll take a few more shot and post 'em for you all,  ;D
