I was browsing around for various suspension install instructions before I install my coil spacer kit and I noticed that BDS has updated their instruction page.
http://www.bds-suspension.com/php/Inst_Srch.php?veh=7
There is a part number listed for the Grand Vitara :o
It only lists the part number for the front coils (but the front and rear coils should be the only change) and their catalog hasn't been updated to show the part, but they do have a part listed on their website for the GV. I haven't called them to verify since I already have a kit so I'm not in the market :'( But I thought someone else might interested.
-
I noticed that too on the BDS webpage but according to BDS they do not offer any kits for the 99+ vitara or GV..
-
Did you call BDS or just look in their catalog?
Call http://www.boondoxmotorsports.com/garagesale.html they have some of the GV springs in stock right now. I also talked to Steve (at Boondox) about some of the BDS stuff. They are not going to be a BDS supplier (too many issues to deal with) but will be stocking some of the BDS stuff. Specifically they had an order of 20 Strut Extensiona being shipped to them this week. Also Steve said that it can be difficult cross referencing products from BDS as not all of the reps are up to date with the current stuff not listed in the catalog.
I called Boondox to order a pair of BDS shocks, Steve double checked the application chart for me and BDS actually lists a different shock application for the GV's even though every other manufacturer lists the same shock part numbers for GV's and Sidekicks. Also when I ordered my strut extensions I had to call BDS twice and give my local distributor the part number FSE3, because they couldn't find it even after they called the BDS warehouse to look up the part and order it.

i emailed them and they told me to date and in the shop they dont have anything listed for the 99+ gv or vitaras.. i have a supplier here that said he can get me a suspension kit from BDS for mine so thats what led me to email them.. some places have shit listed for them and some dont...so i emailed them myself and they told me they dont offer any produces for our years.

Call them and ask about part number 037203 and 037207, once they look up those parts and stop being dumbasses see if they can bundle those in the full kit for you.
One thing to watch out for, trying to get my strut extensions onto the struts has been a nightmare, they are really tight.
-
When I put my strut extensions on they werent tight at all. I was worried that they would actually slip off, so I hope I put enought thread loc on there.
-
hmmm.... I think that reinforces my plan to run a die down the strut rod.
......
oh yeah, one other thing I noticed after installing the first extens: it adds 70mm of down travel :o I'll have to remember that and try to not push the CV's too much.
-
Yeah, it's about a 2.5 inch extension to the original travel.
-
Keep in mind the stock shocks are a bit...wasteful with their downtravel. They're pretty much the same ones as the Track/Kicks used and you could get a free 2" or so of downtravel simply by flipping their mounts. This is similar for us with newer Track/Vits. I'd bet you'll be okay.
If not toodle over to Off Road Warehouse on Balboa Avenue and get some limiting straps. 8)

Yeah, I was looking at the strut's compressed and they are so short. I don't think there is anyway to bottom these out even with the 2.5" extension.
What concerns me about the down travel is that on the passenger side (with the crappy floating stub) when it was at full droop I couldn't turn the wheel spindle because it was binding. I assume that means the CV's are at there limit.
