What is the biggest STOCK rim that will fit a Sidekick?
I know sidekicks only go up to 16
but I believe some of the older BIGGER fords go 17 maybe even 18
Can anyone provide more info on this?

If you can find a set...good luck...and can afford a set...good luck...Ford put 17's on the first gen Lightning's from the pre-97 body style. Those would be a 5x5.5" pattern.
Also, Dodge still used a 5x5.5" lug pattern at least until the newer body style in '06. '02-'05 Ram 1500's will be 5x5.5" and came with at least 17" wheels, some had 18's. Not sure on the '06's or if the hubs fit over whatever a 2wd Tracker has in the center of the wheels. :P Never had a 2wd Tracker so I can't say.

18s would be cool. Know how wide?
On a 2WD the hubs are flat in the back which is great
but the front still has the bore that sticks out about an inch
Can you tell me more about the 17s or 18s youre talking about?
:)

Not much as I don't pay that much attention to 2wds or Dodge trucks anymore.
If you go to www.car-part.com and search for wheels off of a '93 Ford F150 Lightning or a '04 Dodge Ram 1500 they should put up pictures of them. Also try searching on Ebay.
I doubt they'll be cheap unless you find someone selling off a set from their truck for dirt cheap. The First Gen Lightning rims have a reputation for costing an arm, leg, nut, frontal lobe...etc...

I was just looking plain steel rims (steelies)
they dont have to be the alloys or aluminums or anything.
Just something to throw a hubcap on.

I've seen some ram's with STOCK 20" aluminum wheels.... are you saying they would be 5x5.5bp? Here's a pic.....
Cause that would be a great looking wheel to use(with a low profile tire) on a lowered trackick, it would look good ;)

yeah I know
(personally I dont care for the look... maybe on a stock tracker)

in 17/18
from an old ford or something
possible?
inpossible?

sorry... i meant unpossible ;D
-
impossible
The Lightnings had aluminum wheels but I think one of the Ram's options was a steel wheel in 17". I think...and keep in mind it'd have some deep backspacing (4"+).
Unciv, yep, that Ram has the 5x5.5" pattern.

no kiddin... ::)
and why is such a deep backspacing bad?
-
Just warning you that you might end up with tires and wheels hitting suspension, body work, or frame with a deep backspacing rim. Many of the modern fullsizes run over 4.5" worth of backspacing, some past 5". Stock on Tracks/Kicks was in the 3.75-4.25" range.

93-95 Lightning wheels I have thought would look pretty interesting, I have just never tried to put them from the truck to the kick, not sure it would fit over the hubs anyway. You can normally pick up a set for around 350-400 without tires IF you can find them. They are pretty rare.
Here is what they look like, I think they would look pretty good.

Jeez, doesn't anyone actually READ the original posts?
I feel your pain Gen-Erix
folks just don't pay attention, do they...
THE GUY WANTS STEEL WHEELS AND HUBCAPS.........
HE JUST WANTS TO KNOW THE LARGEST SIZE STEEL WHEEL THAT MIGHT FIT, SOMETHING HE COULD FIND IN A JUNKYARD OR SOMETHING...
I can't personally answer the question, but DAMN the answers here are aggravating

I think AJMBLAZER answered his question pretty good - stating that dodge vehicles had the same bolt pattern for a few years, and probably have a wide aelection of 15"-20" wheels (which would include the 17"/18" that he specified) And in everyones defense(including mine)his original post and the title do not mention that he was looking for steel....

LOL... yeah.... ok......... I am extra cranky today.. that's all.. I will chill... :P

there, changed it
i know you guys were trying to help and I appreciate that
(but I was trying to be specific as stated in THREE posts)
no worries though,
on with the info!

too bad these dont have the same 6 lug pattern as a toyota 4wd pickup, as they come in a lot of different sizes. I have seen a few base model dodge pickups with the wide 5 lug pattern and I would say they were probably either 16s or 17s, and steel ;D
-
The only option that i can think of will be from a Dodge, the newer model ones have a 17x7 plain non-chrome steel wheel that I think was a 5x5.5 pattern. That is the only thing I can think of that came with a steel 17" wheel. Ford stopped using the 5x5.5 pattern in 97 with the body style change and offered nothing in a 17" steel prior to that.
As far as backspacing I am not sure what the measure, so you would just have to measure and see if it would work once you found a set.
If the wheels would fit backspacing wise you would almost for sure have to buy new lower profile tires for your particular setup.
My point with my previous post was that you could get some aluminum wheels for not much more money than steel/hubcaps that would look good and be different, but please excuse my opinion.
