Title: cracked front diff

ok i was at superlift orv park and bashed my front diff on a big ass rock. it cracked and is leaking fluid out of the housong. i am going to get it welded up what do ya'll think.

It will be tough to clean all of the oil out and weld and Aluminum case  :-\ Probable be alot easier to call Hawk and get them to send you one or get one form someone in the garage sale that is parting out their Kick.

maybe buy a skidplate too while you're doing the diff...

i'm really not looking forward to pulling the front diff it is getting a SAS soon so i am just trying to make her last for a little while longer. my life with out 4x4 tracker is just not complete.

If it is a small crack, you might drain it, clean it, JB weld it, fill and flush it then fill it again.  Even then I wouldn't drive it offroad until I got it fixed/replaced.

I too have an aluminum axle housing (asuming that's what broke) and an aluminum third (sorry, no gears - just the housing) laying about.

pm me if you want either of them cheap.

Man, pulling the front diff is about a 30 minute job, if that... it's a a breeze... take it out and do it right... seriously..

Actually, what quaddog said is the right method.
