Well, the wife told me it was starting to brake funny. I was hoping the front pads would last longer until I had the time to put the lift on at the same time...guess not.
So it's on jackstands waiting for the new Bendix semi-metallics. Brakes aren't my thing so I'm hesitant in doing all this stuff.
Anything I should know or look out for while doing this?
Can I use an impact to get the caliper retaining bolts out? They're in there pretty good and my 1/2" ratchet doesn't seem to want to budge them.

did you spray them with WD40 and let um sit?
(If not the impact should be cool)

Being a sliding caliper brake, all you got to do is to undo one bolt and the calliper will rotate around the other one then you will be able to get to the pads. However it is easier if you remove the one that is NOT the main sliding pin (from memory it was the one with the smaller bolt). I replaced mine with Ferodo Excel and they do not come with the shims hence I had to reuse the old one from the OEM brake pads. Note the orientation of the slims and fit them the same way. Push the piston home with a G-clamp.
I don’t remember the caliper bolts on my 5 yo GV being overly tight.

Heh, ours has been making the front wheels BLACK with dust as since we got it at 22k. I think because of the crappy brake materials they have to use now by law this sort of stuff is unavoidable.

Not really necessary with better quality pads. The OEM's have to use crappy materials now and more dust, in some cases A LOT MORE, is one of the results.

Well, got the calipers and their brackets off. Took a 3' long breaker bar and my rubber mallet but they came off. Kudos to Suzuki for using caliper bolts that aren't little twigs. I seem to remember my Ranger and my Ram having MUCH smaller caliper bolts...a similar process would likely result in snapped off heads. Lips Sealed
Looks like on both sides the inside pad was wearing faster than the outside pad to the extent where the inside pads are practically gone. In addition the driver's side set seemed to be wearing at an angle which meant the inside driver's side pad was actually dragging the metal backing plate on the rotor where all the material wore off on the rear of it.Shocked
Now to go find some 8mm bolts at the local hardware store and get those rotors off. I live in such a bustling metropolis Roll Eyes that none of the machine shops are open today. Angry Hopefully I can have them turned and have it all back together tomorrow.
Are there any bearings, races, seals, etc on the inside of the rotor? Never had a Suzuki apart before. Wish I had thought to take the hubs off BEFORE I disassembled the front brakes.
Since I need the 8mm bolts to take the rotor off...how do I reinstall it? The FSM just says "reinstall rotor".

when you put the rim on it will press the rotor back in place.
