I been discussing this on Pirate with good review. So I was wonder whatcha think?

Basically I wanna run a motorcycle engine to a 4sp/t-case. (1995 Tracker, Blown Motor)I would have all 5 M/C gears, 4 trans, 2 t-case. I would have ridiculous low and super high. It would be like running an engine with underdrive. Also I would do a serious weight reduction. If its not needed, it wont be in there. Remove all of the interior except dash and front seats. Maybe later remove most of the body and go buggy. But I just want something to mess with on the trails. Its not gonna be my main trail rig.

a sprocket on the input shaft should be sufficient, give you some gear reduction too. you will have to have the honda engine mounted sideways, which is front to back like the sammy engine used to be.
I was thinking about a similar setup from a virago 1000 engine, which is shaft drive, but it's air cooled, would overheat like no tomorrow

I have thought about this for a while and this is what I came up with.
1. Should be liqued cooled. Air cooled will work but you will need to run fans
to keep air moving over it. You may even need ductwork to get the airflow
through the cooling fins.
2. mount the engine sideways, mount a sprocket on the tranny input shaft
and put a double row chain to lock the two together (like a pump connector)
My big question is.....Will the stock bike clutch be able to handle the extra weight? ???
There are a few other small things I can think of that will need worked out but I shure would like to see someone try this. Let us know what you're doing!!!

What do you do with a zuki that runs to 12,000-13,000 RPM besides fly it (zaggy ;D)???????

I've never seen how the Zukis handle it, but on all of the cars I've had a manual trans loose from, the engine end of the shaft is supported/kept in line by the pilot bearing in the crankshaft. Seems like you would need to fab up something on the front of the trans as well to take it's place. Very cool idea though. I like the way you think!

I have a 95 Tracker with no title and a blown motor so I been brainstorming ;D
The clutch will hold it thru the power of gear reduction. I want it to go flying thru the trails. Stay on the stocker stuff. I want to be able to jump it too.
I gotta get the yoke adapter and making and adapter to the trans will be simple, I will just steel the splined section out of the clutch.
There's also the chance that I might change my mind and put a 4.3 in it. But I'm doing something different to it no matter what.
