There is a company that will take a t-top Camaro and remove the metal above the windshield, the t-bars and part of the rear roof and reweld them onto a non-t-top car thus giving it t-tops. They do this because many of the nice 80's Camaro that are left don't have t-tops.
That got me thinking could the same be done on a 4 door Trackick to give it the open front roof of a 2 door? The way I would see it happen is that the windshield header the side roof rails where the top pivot is and the rear portion where the snaps are on the 2 door would be removed from the 2 door, the same areas on the 4 door would be removed and then the 2 door peice would be welded onto the 4 door. Thus creating a 4 door softtop Trackick? What I dont know is how similiar the front door sizes and windshield shapes are between the 2 door and 4 door. What do you guys think about this?

I would think anything is possible (with a big enough sawzall and welder ;D ). I don't know about the door lengths but, I am sure that you could make it work. I personally think that it would look nice.

The door lengths are different.

The door lengths are different.
different in what way? 4 door longer or shorter doors and glass?
-
the 4 door front doors are not as long as the 2 door doors. I don't have easy access to my 4 door to measure the doors right now, but they are most definately shorter...
-
You sure the front doors arent as long? I have compared my doors to a 4 doors and they seemed the same.
-
i know there is a difference with the doors since I bought replacement mirrors (power) for my 2 door from a 4 door and the fit but when you look closure there is a different shape .....don't know whether this makes a difference on you fitting but look closely and you should do it no prob

Here's a comparison... Judge for yourself...

The swb door is about 4.5" longer than a lwb door.

Darn! It looks like it would be possible if the flip part extended into the back seat a bit. But it would be a trickier cut and weld than if the doors were the same size.

Like Takai said, anything is possible. ;) It's just a matter of how much work you wanna do.
