What years was the HARD top 2-door Sidekick produced? :-*
-
here in vancouver i've seen sidekicks as late as 93, but in the states i've seen 95's. there are quite a few here in the lower mainland.
-
Your close! I am on the Sunshine Coast. I have seen a few around here as well. I really like the Hardtop version. It looks really solid to my eyes and is the smallest solid roof 4X4 SUV available. The good news is I ve made up my mind on what version I am getting. Its going to be the Sidekick Hardtop 2-door. If you see any for sale for a good price let me know LOL.
Thanks

It's the opposite around here, I've seen more tintops for sale more than convertibles, maybe because people hang on to them ;)
-
I found a 1998 Hardtop, so I guess Suzuki made the version until they fully changed thier line up name to Vitara in 1999.
-
Not sure about the States but Tin Tops were avaliable from 1988 ex Japan and NZ :)

Did they make a hard top saumurai? I thought the sidekick wasn't introduced until 89.
On a sidenote I have an '89 hardtop 2-door sidekick JLX. I don't personally see the advantage of a hard versus soft top, but mine is pretty sweet looking. It's in fact the same color as the sidekick pictured in the suzuki catalog where they first introduced the model. I've not seen another one in the light metallic blue color except in that catalog.

Convertibles are great for cruising and offroading with the topdown. During hot summer nights I used to drive my Jeep YJ with the top off to some look out points to get a great view of the city, it was very refreshing. I also did some topless offroading and found it very enjoyable. The only thing I didnt like while having the top off was bee's and bugs could really get at you. Man the Jeep 4.OL was great for trails and exploring but I have to put it in the past and forget about it because the gas prices. Out of the 10 vehicles I ve owned 4 of them had removable top's.
I ve made my choice on choosing which version I will get. The Hardtop 2-door will be it. With all of the crazy weather out there and me always finding myself in cold weather I think a metal roof will do the trick. I am happy Suzuki produced all the different versions they did.

I haven't found many for sale, only been looking for a few days. I wonder if they have a higher re-sale value or are they priced the same as the others?

We Got SJ410 SJ413 and Samurai in both soft and hard tops here in NZ. Interesting that down here the majority of them were hard tops compared to what I've seen on the forum most of the US are soft top ?
The Sidekick AKA Escudo in Japan were released in '88. Probably took a year to get it past your DOT people ;D

:) I traded an antique bicycle, value aprox$2500 for the Tracker w/ 62k on the odometer. It ran well but had been neglected. I did all the work, my buddy and I did the paint , and with all the equipment including the Coubeau seats I guess I got about 7k into it, including the cost of the bike. Last stop, 5.83 gears, and a steel front diff.

??? One more thing, as far as rarity, I've only seen a handful of hardtops here on the east coast, but I've seen thousands ( no joke) of softtops. My guess is they are much more rare due to saleabilty of convertables. The manufacturers knew this so produced convertables at a rate of 100 or more to 1 to the tintops. I guess most people would buy a ragtop just for the romantic notion of hair in the wind and all that. I sought out a hardtop mostly because I didn't like the look of a sagging softop, I like airconditioning in these hot, humid NJ summers, and in the woods here having your top down just means your Tracker and your hair will fill with bugs, tree debri, and ticks if your not careful. Besides, they are quieter ( reletively) inside, especially after you insulate them, compared to the softops, and imo a hardtop has a more rigid body structure.

With all the crazy weather brewing up accross the world these days the Hardtop gives extra security. I also really like the style, they seem to look more rugged. All the versions look decent though, I better be careful before I get burned out about them! It will take alot to lose interest because of the excellent aftermarket. Right.

Here are a few questions I forget to ask
1. What kind of flooring does the Hardtop and 4Door's Have?
2. Is it removable like the converitble's is?
-
my 2 door tin top and 4 door zuki both have carpeting in, not removable, unless you remove the seats and stuff. The 2 door how ever has the carpet in the boot removable, all you do is fold the back seats fowars, and there are 3 poppers, and then the carpet can be removed easily... ;)

Does anyone have pictures of a 2-door Hardtop with the rear seats removed? Something like this this pic here.
THanks
