Title: ever see those hp kits on ebay???
Post by: ddevil on May 21, 2006, 11:30:15 AM
they claim to add horsepower but putting a resistor inline somewhere and it advancing your timing or whatever to fool the computer.  what kina resistor is it?  anyone know or have one?  i'm sure i could find the resistor around here somewhere if i know what one to look for..... just curious...

don't do it... it will mess ur engine, all it does is plu in with the air flow sensor, and makes the ECU add more fuel into the engine, making the engine run rich..... doesn't add more power, and adds more consumption, and slowly kills the engine as it is not getting a good mix of air to fuel

good enough for me... i kinda thought it wouldn't be too keen on the engine since it was tricking the computer into doing something it shouldn't but was just curious as to what kinda resistor they're all ripping people off with...

I would to agree, junk

Also it is even arguable if the resiter even correctly tricks the computer,

I read that somewhere but can't recall.

My engine runs rich enough w/o help  ::)

I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time, but a while back I read about a lawsuit that was against one of those sellers. The guy who bought it owned a Fiero in Arizona, very nice GT with low miles... lol anyhow the mod leaned it way out, running it hot and eventually melting the top of the piston.

Anyhow leaning a car out to an extent will make more power, but is bad for it, and this is also why they claim better mileage because of less gas being used.

EITHER WAY, DON'T DO IT! lol, I don't wanna see your zuk blown up, although I do need parts...  ;D
