Title: 31" super swampers on 10"wide rims(i think)....
Post by: ddevil on May 22, 2006, 02:51:11 PM
will i be able to fit 31" super swampers that are on 10" wide rims(i think that's what they are) on my stock unlifted tracker?  i am in the process of doing a body lift but i came across on heck of a deal on a set of tires and rims that i can't pass up.  so will i be able to run them on my tracker as long as i don't do any 4 wheeling until i get it lifted?  i'm more concerned about the width of them than anything really because i think i'll have enough room to fit them in the wheel well itself.

I doubt you could even turn with 31's, let alone 31's on 10" wide wheels.

Are the sidewalls nearly flat or actually sloped inwards to the tread?  Is the tread narrower than the rim?  If not then the rims are likely not 10" wide.

lol, you really know how to kill a guys hopes...  but here's the thing,  my buddy i work with just got a set of 31" tires off this guy for $20 and the tires are almost brand new and he told me the guy has a set of super swampers on rims that are only a week old that he wants $50 for.  he told me the size of them but i forget exactly what he said.  i only said 31's and 10" wide cause i know that's at the max what they are but i think he said the tires are 235/75/15 or something and the rims are either 9.5 or 10".....  i'm sure that probably doesn't change much though.  still need a lift.  but what about backspacing?  would i need to get wheel spacers and backspace them or anything?  thanks

They won't work - but for that price I'd get them anyway, install a 3" body lift with some fender trimming and you should be able to turn the wheels  ;)

Sounds to me like you need more information.  A 31x10.5R15 WILL NOT fit on a stock Tracker if you want to drive it at all.

However a 235/75R15 or 30x9.5R15 will fit if you run stock rims or similar rims.

I doubt either would be mounted on a 9.5" or 10" wide rim.  However Swamper does make a 31x9.5R15 TSL Radial...so methinks you might have some sketchy info.  Get reliable info and you can get reliable answers.

For the price I'd jump on them even if they spent 6 months in the shed.  I'm looking for a good set of 31" muds in my area right now and the best deal I've found so far is 5 hours away and 3 times the price.  So GET THEM!

Doesn't matter, the rims are probably worth that.

Probably aren't 10 inch rims, but if they ARE.. jump on them anyway, cause I bet you could trade them to someone that wants a bigger wheel for a bigger tire..

Bottom line... $50........ BUY THEM.

At the very least you can list them on Ebay and make a couple hundred bucks,  but make sure they are Super Swampers, or some other reputable tire first.

Super Swamper does make an 11.5" - 13.5" wide 31, so the rims could be 10", why is that so unbelievable?

The man has a point.  In which case you DEFINATELY wouldn't be able to steer. ;)

Quad, what size tires are you running? Didn't you fit a 31 on there with some trimming and a small suspension lift?

Yeah, I have 31x11.50 TSL LTB's..    2 inch BDS suspension lift, trimming, beating and I still rub a  little now and then.. nothing major. I have 8 inch wheels though.. 10's wouldn't fit with my small lift.

lol, yeah here's the skinny... they're indeed 235/75/15's on 8" rims :P  and they're not super swampers but some other mud tires.  my buddy wasn't sure what brand but i'm probably going to jump on them anyway.  they'd fit then right?  thanks everyone and i appologize for my improper info but i was excited :D

235's are about 29 inches, and depending on the backspacing of the wheel, you should be able to run them with no modification...  if the backspacing is low, you might have to bang a little on the firewall, but I doubt it.. I think they will fit for you.

Are the wheels the right pattern? If not, the 235's will fit your stock rims..

and I am guessing the wheels aren't even 8 inch...  wanna bet?  prolly 7.

Send pictures.. yes, heck yes, they are worth $50 as long as there is some tread left.. LOL..

yeah the bolt pattern is correct.  and 7" is quite possible.  see these are only about a week old.  not even 20miles on them,  hell probably not even 10miles on them.  the guy that's selling them had them on a truck and he just got them and then the engine in his truck blew.

But - your rims are only 2.5" BS if I remember reading correctly, If you had a 3.5" BS wheel, it would move towards the frame a little, this would keep the swing effect down a little on the front tires, and keep them from hitting the back of your fenders a little less. If you check the archive, Mike Hagen used to run 31x12.5 SSR's on his 10" rims, If I didn't have to worry about Mr. Police Officer, I'd be using 10" wheels, I think the extra width looks awesome  ;)
