ya im not to sure myself how to post pics :(   but i was thinking of putting tube subs under the pasenger seat and one under the driver seat, and then puting two 6x9s in the back and obviously an amp. I allready have two 4" pioneers in the front, and two 5 3/4 pioneers in the back where the old stock locations are (at the feet). Oh, and i was thinking of keeping the stock stereo. Only cuz i dont want it to look to flashy, because i live in  scarborough (an area within toronto). What do u think??

It might be a pain in the butt to hook all that up to the factory head unit. You'd be better off getting an aftermarket one.  I'm assuming you don't want anything flashy so it doesn't get stolen? There's a lot of head units out there that are good quality but aren't too flashy looking. You can even get one of the ones that flips around to a flat black panel.  My Aiwa unit does that. Check out Crutchfield.com they have the best prices and include free speaker harnesses, intall kits, and directions with their purchases.

they offer one that goes underthe front passenger seat.  that's what i'm going to do i guess.  just can't get a part number or price anywhere on the web.

I have one.  (not in my Tracker)

Can you hear it from a block away?  No.

Will it fill your Zuk with clean clear bass?   Yes.

Huh, I have a Rockford Fosgate 400a4 in my 4-door daily driver, with a pair of Rockford Fosgate Truckboxes - but I smoked them.  Need heftier speakers.  There's no AC in that rig, so it has to be LOUD for summer driving on the highway, with the windows down.

I just up graded the stock 4 inch speakers with jbl and then put a mtx 8000 12 inch sub in a custom box in the back with a   mtx 1000 rms amp. Sounds pretty good plus it hits pretty hard to. just upgrading the deck makes for better sound with even the stock speakers.

Another idea could be to get a sub and amp out of a vatira or xl7 they have a little six inch unit under the drivers seat, sounds ok.

Hi, I had the same problem. The foreseen holes in the Jimny's interior only allowed installation of 10 cm speakers  :(. I made myself a 'box' for in the back. At the sides there fit 18cm cone speakers  ;D and in the middle I got a compartiment to put my tools in...  ;)

wow so clean!!
Probably smells clean too oooh ahhh

I still haven't cleaned the mud coming out of the shifter boots on my trucklet.. I think it adds a nice touch to the interior.

Nice Box, just not practical for what I do. I spent 150 bucks on a cd player, 6x9 and 4.5 speakers from Kragen.. Works great. And the CD player had a remote which is essential when drinking beer around the campfire and using your zuk to listen to music.

Best part is I can leave the face on the deck cause nobody would ever steal a Rampage CD player!!.

My God, that stuff wouldn't last a night in my neighborhood. I have Alpine 4" front and rear, and Pioneer AM/FM/XM/CD head unit, with detachable face. XM is truly the greatest invention since the radio.

Every system I have put in my vehicles was set up for SQ. If I get some high SPL out of it lucky me but SQ is always my goal.

SPL you hear coming from a few blocks away and your your like dang thats LOUD!

SQ you barely hear it if the doors and windows are closed but open the doors and your like dang that sounds nice, detailed and CLEAR!

i had three jl audio 10in w3 subs mounted into my tailgate with a fiberglass and mdf enclosure.custom side panels in the trunk with 6.5in speakers with external tweets.also jl audio xr.and 4in jl audio xr coaxials in the factory front positions with the crossovers mounted on the panel below the steering wheel.the amps were held in an artificial trunk floor made of fiberglass and mdf with a lockable hinged door to access the amps.powered by an optima battery a mtx 5100d 1500watt amp and a directed 250watt amp for the components.I did the stereo 3 times before i did the tailgate idea. and this sounds better than any system that i have heard.the trick for no rattles.dynomat on the sheet metal and foam insulation.and a well built enclosure.this is probably why it was broken into, before my alarm went in.the subs and amps were stolen but all other components and sub enclosure are still in.I can try to take some pics for you guys if you would like.

and there was not one rattle on the whole vehicle.also i sound proofed the roof.its a 98 4 door.and like said above with the doors and windows shut you couldn't hear a thing outside the vehicle.but crack a window and it will blow a hat off your head.

for those of you worried about not enough room.this way is actually the way you save the most room. to mount subs or speakers into the tailgate.just build a recessed box into the tailgate.cut out the unnessesary sheet metal under the plastic cover. but leave the heave framing pieces.with three subs i only had to pull the enclosure out 5 in into the trunk and 4 in from the floor into the trunk for the amps.and yes there was plenty of box space.

Hey redboarder, post some pics of your install, I would really like to see how you put your subs in the tailgate. I have been thinking of doing the same thing myself.

www.Epinions.com gave the Infinity BassLink good reviews. I'm actually thinking about getting one of them myself. It's not the most powerful one ever, but for the price it's great quality. I've always liked Infinity audio stuff.

how hard would it be to hook everything up to the stock stereo system??

Heres the job I did on my old tintop, never rattled once. sounded good too.

http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=283125

My current tracker has a standalone 10inch in a vertical box behind the back seat with my amp under a carpeted fake floor inthe back with ventilation provided via the hole between the back and bottom of the back seat. this provides ample storage for towstraps , juppercambles etc and provides some security in the softtop by keeping everything out of sight. so now that you all know don't rob me. lol  :P

for sunrunnerGT, i think it would be easier to buy a new head unit, amp and sub. trying to hook up a stock stereo to an amp and sub takes a bit of fiddling around. (from experience, i worked in a car audio install shop for 2 years)

with a new head unit, it makes the job all that more easier and keeps a lot of things simple. and it will also have a seperate sub controller in the menu if you choose a descent head unit.

and it only uses RCA jacks, so theres no cutting, stripping and soldering of wires.

if you would like to know more, i can try to explain and help you out as much as possible.

Cheers
Steve
